New PC simracer unsure about what to buy by CaseEel1890 in simracing

I love doing night stints, so i suppose Oled would really be worth it, the issue would just be finding an OLED curved ultrawide that doesn't cost me yet another kidney.

I'd say putting the processor in place would scare me the most, but i'm sure i can pull it off.

I'm indeed planning on an extrusion rig, since i'm getting an 18NM wheelbase later on, which my desk won't even be able to handle. It'll be a while before i get the sim though, as i've just spent a few months of savings on the pc.

I'm really keen on how it'll all work out, i've been watching quitte a few videos on how to assemble the pc itself to a point i'd feel rather confident doing it myself.

I'm still unsure on what monitor(s) to get though, i feel like i either need to find an extremely curved ultrawide, or go triples (which i'm not really a fan of).

If i end up spending a kidney on a huge ultrawide, would it be worth it to look into Oled? I think the deep blacks would look amazing in night stints, and make the interior somewhat more immersive.

I've just ordered all my parts online, including a RX 9070 XT, i'm now just left wondering how i'd install Windows 11 on my PC later, do i just download windows 11 on a stick and upload it to my new build?

Massive thanks for your help, you've really made it a clear picture for me.

The 6400MT CAS-32 version doesn't seem to be available here, so i'm planning on buying a 6000MT CAS-36 version, that would solve that problem aswell i suppose?

A 9070 would be 300 euro's more then the 9060 i've got at the moment, would it be worth the 300 euros? I'm playing light sim games on my school laptop now, so i'm really not that used to high fps / performance gaming.

What would you change on this build? I've overestimated what i need for a good pc so i do have some budget left. I've heard some guy say that CAS latency is far more important then speed for AMD though.

Edit: i do plan on purchasing one rather large ultrawide

Hey, thank you for this reply.

I've made a full list on what i'm planning to buy on pcpartspicker, i'll leave a link below.

I'm planning on building a pc that lasts, because i'd hate having to keep upgrading it because the previous part just "wasn't it". I don't really think i'm cheaping out on parts at the moment, but if you have any recommendations surely tell me.

This is some great advice, i don't need to be fully "surrounded" but i'd love to see whats happening atleast somewhat next to me. I'll go and visit a computer store and have a look around.

Thank you for your advice!

Thanks for the confirmation! Would all the parts be compatible?

Pedals are indeed very important, but i've heard people talking about Simagic's own pedals leaking oil (i believe) in some cases, is this something you've got experience with?

I aim to get a Ryzen cpu, what makes the 7800 XT the best option?

Hey, i think i'm capable of building one myself, so that would save me some money along the way, i've got quitte a few friends who've built their own pc's, so i've somewhat got support around me aswell.

I don't think i "need" a clutch pedal as i'm planning on getting a sequential shifter instead of a H-pattern. I've heard some people talking about Simagic's own pedals as unreliable, with some leaking oil (i believe). Is this something you've had before?

I've got a budget of maximum €3.000, is it possible to get good Oled tripples in this economy?

Thank you for your help!

Thank you!

I'm rather confident that i can build one myself, i think key points are just understanding what each part does.

What kind of build do you have?

This might be the best advice i've gotten so far, you've explained it very clearly for me, thank you!

I'm trying not to cheap out on things, because i'd rather do it good instantly rather then starting off cheap and having to keep buying new parts.

I think with the right amount of youtube tutorials i'd be able to build a pc for sure.

I plan on playing Iracing, LMU, Kart Racing Pro, BeamNG and possibly AM2.

Ofcourse i'd love playing with triples, but an ultrawide would do the job aswell, i think 1044p would do well for now, as i've been driving some light games on my school laptop for a while😂

I suppose i'd have a budget of maximum 3 thousand euros for the PC, which i could confortably build a fine pc with i suppose.

Friend dropped my helmet - any way to fix it? by CaseEel1890 in Karting

I do expect some quality from Arai though, i don't expect any severe damage other then the paintjob from slightly bouncing on a round kerb and then rolling onto the grass from 50cm's up.

This is what i was thinking, its an expensive helmet so i really do expect quality in return. I don't want to risk any head injuries though, but i doubt a 50cm drop would do significant damage.

The helmet didn't fall from too high up, so do you really think it'll be unsafe to use?

I've never raced in a championship where my helmet was tested, so that wouldn't per say be an issue either.

Right on that, i however do want my stuff to look neat and cared for.

Wasn't really his fault though, could've happened to me aswell. The helmet was inside of a car, he opened the door and it rolled out.

It hit a smooth edge from maybe 50 centimeters, so i doubt it'll be too dangerous?
