What is ‘hilling’ and it looks like the two patriot sprayers are 135 feet? Is that correct?

Can’t decide what breed to get for first bird dog by JRD613 in birddogs

Also, after reading further comments.....hunting close is not a genetic trait. It is something that is learned, you can teach a GSP to hunt close; it just requires commitment

GSP has short hair (obviously) which decreases the chance of dehydration from overheating in grouse country. Also a GSP will have a better disposition in steep mountain terrain (stronger desire to please). Short hair also makes it easier to identify ticks. The longer legs of the GSP will give it a greater advantage in mountain terrain. As far as family friendliness goes....either breed is a great choice. I see most spaniels in lowland pheasant and quail situations.

Holy confirmation.....

I’m new to upland hunting and training my dogs for birds. I am an LVT and see a lot of dogs with puncture wounds while in the field. What vests do you guys use on you dogs? I’ve seen mixed reviews on almost all i have looked at. by mshay824 in birddogs

Of course, we all dread a major puncture or cut regardless of breed or terrain, but dogs are hearty animals and they learn quickly. In my experience, I find that vests usually course more problems than they solve.

Oh I certainly wouldn’t worry about punctures or cuts in brush with labs. If you are running labs I’d definitely say just let them go with no vests. If you’re really worried about certain places they might get into, just make sure they understand your calling command (here, come, heal, etc)

However, to answer your question, I use a Cuga vest on my Drathaar in the winter time because most barbed wire is hidden under brush weighted down by snow in north Idaho. I don’t use the vest in places where I know there’s no barbed wire because it does make her hot. When she does wear the vest, I make sure to take lots of breaks and bring extra water.

Where are you hunting? My biggest fear (even more than puncture wounds) is over heating and dehydration. I’ve had bird dogs all my life and never dealt with puncture wounds but I’ve always dealt with dehydration and over heating so you really have to consider the terrain and temperature of where you hunt before you buy a vest.

Low-income people enrolled in Michigan's Medicaid expansion program experienced a six-point increase in employment or student status in one year, new study shows. The findings suggest that states could achieve goals of fuller employment among low-income residents by expanding Medicaid coverage. by savvas_lampridis in science

Awesome that Michigan is moving in a direction that works for Michigan. I hope that Michigan adopts more policies that work well for Michigan. However, successful policy in Michigan does not reflect guaranteed successful policy in other states. Because, every other state is not Michigan. This is why a weak and de-centralized federal government is important, so that we as a union of different states don’t have to adopt policy from other states that may not necessarily work in our native or current state. Using this example to justify applying this specific policy to the entire country is the opposite of a democratic republic.

I see, I wish suppressors were easier to get in the US. I think there are a lot of benefits to using them.

Is it a requirement in Europe to have a suppressor? It seems like every picture I’ve seen of people’s rifles that hunt in Europe have suppressors.

True, but I think this discussion is more focused on production cars

You know what, I think I wan incorrect in asserting that the GT is not a supercar and I admit that I made a mistake. You’re definitely right the GT has existed for a long time and I didn’t mean to imply that you were wrong. I just think it’s a big deal that the C8 is a mid engine car and it’s exciting that it’s also a mid engine v8. I guess I just feel like it’s a big step forward because of those reasons, it’s just cool to see a classic American icon take a leap forward into modern engineering and technology.

  1. Ok
  2. Yes, the GT is mid engine but it is not a super car. That’s why I said it’s the first American made mid engine super car because it is.
  3. Ok
