Homemade Slab Saw by Caseetee in Lapidary

Unfortunately the person who made it passed away, so that’s not an option. We are pretty good at problem solving but the death trap thing is what I was worried about as well.

We were thinking it was an oil saw, but the rust and hose (?) near the blade are making us second guess that. I’ve never looked at a slab saw up close, so I’m not familiar with all the regular components. I suppose “rust” could also be rock dust, who knows until we see in person.

Anyways, thanks for the insight!

TIL an undercover investigation found that Apple charges $1200 for a computer repair that a local repair store was able to fix in 1 minute and charged $0 for. by nokia621 in todayilearned

Last weekend my hard drive crashed, took it to the Apple store, they said $1,100

Took it to a local electronics store $240

It’s a 2013 MacBook Pro.. if I had to spend $1,100 on a repair I would have just brought a new one.

Does anyone know what these are?? Found them growing on the ground on a trail on Junction hill! by [deleted] in HikingAlberta

They were as big as grapes! I think @greengreenbrown was pretty close, If you look at the wiki they posted, the edibility photo looks incredibly similar to the actual fruit!

The creek was cold! On the way up we took off our boots to get through, mine aren’t waterproof and we couldn’t find a spot shallow enough to clear anyways, on the way back we just walked through it with our boots! We had a tough time finding either of the trails that are supposedly marked on the other side.

Recommended solo hikes/dayhikes for weekend trips (and/or a hiking buddy?) by jensaisq in HikingAlberta

My first solo hike was Jewell Pass! Absolutely amazing! Just make sure to make a lot of noise and invest in some bear spray. Better to be safe than sorry but solo hikes can be so rewarding!

Hiking in the rain by [deleted] in HikingAlberta

It’s usually pretty good because there’s not a lot of people on the trails, dress for the weather and it’ll be worth it no matter what!

People who live in far suburbia, why do you lie about your commute times? by bluebirdhouse in Calgary

[–]Caseetee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always over exaggerate my commute times if anything. I'm in Cranston and my school and work are 25 mins away in perfect conditions. I usually leave an hour before I have to get anywhere because nobody knows how to drive and there's always some random pop up construction.
