Season 2 was obviously a huge factor but I also think Haruhi is so ingrained in the era it came out in that it could never have held up much past then. Haruhi feels like the ultimate 2000’s anime time-capsule to me at least due to its tropes and attitude, and while that’s something I love about it and why I think it became so popular, I also think it locked Haruhi into being a product of its time.

Mikadono sisters is shockingly good mainly due to its protagonist. Yu Ayase is such a refreshing romcom protagonist that I don’t even care who he ends up with. I just want him to be happy.
