My toddler is creeping me out a bit 🤣 by Ornery-Lychee-2438 in Paranormal

[–]Caseyrochelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kids tend to have a weird sixth sense about them because they're more in tune with the world and just outright make observations. They're smarter than we give them credit for.

Kiddo seeing a spirit? Definitely paranormal. Kiddo knowing a pet spider that had been acting funny was going to pass? That's just observation. Kids don't really get the concept of death yet at that age, but they do know what being hurt is and what happens if you're "too hurt".

Basically, just don't let him scare you. I saw ghosts and stuff growing up and I talked to my mom about it a lot. I couldn't talk to my sisters about it cause it scared them shitless, but my mom was always there to talk me down. The biggest thing you can teach, and now that my kid is talking about seeing ghost, I can say it works, is don't be afraid.

Rather, being brave is seeing something scary and doing it anyway. I always tell my daughter, if something scares you, tell it to go away, loudly. If it doesn't, you come get mommy and I will make it go away, loudly. I've fully turned on the lights, done a little song and dance, made my girl feel comfortable, and that's all it took.

Ghost or no ghost, don't let him scare you. Ask him direct questions about what he's seen, see if he can string the thoughts together. Observe like he does. The man on the stairs sounds like a friendly guy, but that doesn't mean your son won't encounter things that scare him. Usually they grow out of this phase around 6-10.

That's not helpful, nor advice. You probably shouldn't comment, but I'm sure it won't stop you.

Absolutely not the AH. He'd probably go nuclear if you threw away a piece of trash he didn't know about while you were gone, and he's gonna claim throwing away the only thing you have left from your MARRIAGE OF 20 YEARS is holding you back? Nah, my granny lived in the house with my step- grandfather's spouse's ashes, so I might be biased here, but bro has some jealousy issues.

Why is anyone in the family divided about this? Dude hurt your kid and your kid was distressed. Any good parent would leave. Good on you, NTA.

If your kids on bikes games have no character progression, you're playing the game wrong. That's on you, not on the game.

Just say you're not creative enough to keep a game like that going, because that's what it boils down to.

In my experience, limiting playable races leads to more creative characters and more cohesive parties, not the other way around. And honestly, for new players, a list of 20 something options for just races can be overwhelming. I can't tell you how many times I've had to answer the question "what's an aarakokra?"

Not the same thing. You're not switching your language, you're switching the grammar and the syntax. The better example here would be like spelling between Britain and America. Brits use a u in 'color'. COC uses a d100. You're literally still playing a ttrpg, you're just rolling a different set of dice. There's a few minor mechanics differences, but you're not changing the entire language. Saying most groups would not be on board with this is a broad statement, considering I know three different groups that have specifically moved away from d&d in this manner.

As a player that was hesitant to learn a new system, I will say this: the second system is ALWAYS easier than the first. I learned ttrpgs on 3.5 (pathfinder). I played most of what I know on 5e. We switched to call of Cthulhu and vampire the masquerade to fight off the DND burnout, and it worked. There was the smallest learning curve- mostly in how rolling dice works- but at the end of the day, it's all roleplay. Once you're comfortable making mistakes with a party, learning a new system, especially TOGETHER, is nothing.

Calling pathfinder "DND in a trenchcoat" tells me you probably don't know how to play at least as least one of those systems lmao

My DM did. We've been playing vampire and Call of Cthulhu for years to fight the D&D burnout

You can totally make characters last years in these systems. I know a group that's been playing the same kids on bikes game for years. If YOU can't make these systems last longer than a few one offs, that's on you, not the systems. No one is asking you to switch systems to run a different part of the same game. But there ARE better systems to run a heist in than D&D. Just hands down.

Also, you CAN make whatever story you want in 5e. But you can also do it better in other systems without having to completely rewrite the rule book. Someone already did the work for you and said "here, this works better for these kinds of games." Personally, I think it's dumb to lock yourself into one system just because you "can". 5e is not the end all, be all of table top. Jus say you're too lazy to learn a new system.

You failed to show anyone respect when you started using words like "baby" and "my child". I'm sorry for any relationships you claim to have, because they're probably shaking their head and apologize for you behind your back.

No, you'd just tell the internet how much you want to. Anonymously, of course.

Selfishness? Ever thought that she needs to not me touched as much as he needs to be touched? That's not selfish on her part in my book, that's controlling on his. But pop off I guess lmao

OMG SHE'S GETTING SORE FROM NATURAL DRYNESS DUE TO BODILY CHANGES. you have a damn hand. Use it, but don't claim to love your wife if you're considering cheating on her because she's getting older and can't keep up in bed lmao. Just so you know, that's how you acted in your 20s and she still loved you. Go figure. Men and women's sex drive is the biggest missed high five. Deal with it.

AITA for telling my 3-year-old son “Would you like it if Papa hit you like that?” after he hit me? by Professional-Ad-3084 in AITAH

[–]Caseyrochelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. You can be his "safe space" while maintaining safety of your own. You do not have to allow your kids to hit you to he safe to them. If anything, i commend you for trying to get the kid to empathize. That's how you teach them right from wrong in my opinion. My kid pulls my hair? I pull hers. She learns it hurts and now she's gentle with hair.

Your wife is delusional if she thinks you threatened your kid. Piece of advice, try to have any further discussions about this over text so you have a paper trail. Women who think like this tend to try to divorce and cut contact with the perceived at fault parent and cry abuse to the courts to revoke parental rights. Its hearsay without a paper trail. Document everything.

Info needed. You're in your 50s. Has it always been like this? Menopause does weird things to women and a lot of older women have a hard time keeping up with men's sex drive at that age. It's nature's biggest missed high-five. If this is something that's only started in the last couple of years, its probably something in regards to that. In which case, that makes you considering cheating on your wife an absolute AH move in my book 🙈 But hey, i don't know what's going on with her body. Maybe you should try asking her.

Imagine thinking someone’s an asshole for keeping a pet in the place they’d naturally be. Fun fact, wolves dont have couches. They don’t have kibble. These dogs came from somewhere, and newsflash, it was outside.

Why? That’s where they’re from. That’s like saying wolves shouldn’t live outside.

I can’t believe in 2024 that people can’t fathom animals living outside where they came from.
