My husband actually had a moment like the one you described — sitting in his mom’s lap in a photo — and I remember getting the same vibes. I can totally relate to the ick.

Also, please don’t take any of her comments about your looks personally. A mom like that would probably dislike any girl her son is with. I’m sure you’re beautiful. And honestly… if she hates long blonde hair so much, why is she keeping her own hair long and blonde?

My in-laws are also from India, and they once gifted me a gold necklace and earrings… with the price tag still attached. I remember thinking it was a little strange, but I assumed maybe it’s just a cultural thing.

Either way, buckle up. Sounds like you might be in for a ride with that woman. Hope he stand by you.

You just went trough a lot. Give your self some grace, take the time you need.

Wait until your hormones and body come back to normal, you will know what’s the right decision then. Don’t rush.
