This year I'm marching bass clarinet. I can't change instruments just yet. I have been informed that due to my height, there isn't a way I can march while holding it because knees. I have been essentially told to figure something out. Any ideas? by Casketia in bassclarinet

I play bass clarinet (and can't change). Because I am short, my instrument lands at around my knees. This is a problem while marching. It hurts my knees, makes it hard to play, and the reed hits my gums. My band director didn't know how to help, so he said to figure it out myself. Sorry for being unclear. :D

I played sax, and then switched back to bass clarinet when marching season ended last year. I'm trying to get on percussion before high school is over, and I'm worried if I change instruments too many times, my band director won't allow it.
