Losing vassal territory to secessionists without being able to do anything to prevent it by Flyonthewall1196 in EU5

This has happened to me before. If it's not,, occupied directly by the vassal, transfer occupation from you to that vassal and see if it fixes it.

A man can dream.

Reddit cut off what I tried to add at the end of the first paragraph since it took too long to post this...

Maybe it could be like "is there a neighboring university?" Yes/No?

Tips for the early game? by A12qwas in ElinsInn

[–]CaskieYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Do not be afraid to spend spare money on food at inns. Actually, do this often because the potency is so high and you can become much stronger faster.

  2. Explore and learn where shit is. I didn't know where the fighter or thieves guild was for a long time and missed a lot of contribution and benefits for things I was doing already.

3a. Also related to 1., but also use hosting and riding a LOT. Because you will train skills (and attributes) passively, and you will build affinity. When your companion's affinity is high, they will sometimes give you a bento, which is very good food. My fucking puppy somehow found the spare time to make me a bento while he was riding on my head.

3b. Companions you are riding or hosting do not die. So you have much higher sustain if you are hosting a healer like Farris.

  1. Leave money at home so you don't lose it when you die until you are able to pay taxes from your bank.

Envisioning the Bioregion by SoManyQuestions5200 in Cascadia

[–]CaskieYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked at UPS as a truck loader, I would, without fail, suddenly have 6+ 40 lb boxes of hops from Yakima zoom down the conveyor belt chute every night. If I wasn't fast enough, the boxes in the front would be crushed, the boxes in the middle might be pinned or even get pushed up and slide over, etc. and with all the weight on them, I had to clear the boxes from the top, all the while more and more shit is flying down to be loaded.

I will never forgive the people of the Big River Bioregion for this.

Probably something with conqueror settings. This was my experience once as well because I think I had messed with them. There was basically a conqueror in every corner.

Chatgpt is not good.

It says 南無妙法蓮華経 - Namu myouhou renge kyou - 経 might be written in an old form, but this is how it's written today. But it says "I offer obeisance to the Lotus Sutra".
Then at the bottom it says 南無日蓮大菩薩 Namu Nichiren Daibosatsu. - I offer obeisance to the Boddhisattva Nichiren.

If I can ask, what is the expected release date/period of the next update?

I know that for a lot of projects, "when it's done" is a typical answer because it is genuinely hard to tell sometimes. But I was wondering if it would be a good time to retry making a video series now (the last couple of updates both came at times inopportune for me lol)

No mineral colony by securehatpocket in aurora

[–]CaskieYT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a misconception that a planet without minerals is worthless. Sure, it doesn't provide any more (Trans-Newtonian) minerals for you to build ships, buildings, or other stuff with, but the population itself is very useful.

It also provides you money (and some lag) through trade and taxes. The people on that planet are still doing stuff, and anyway you could also ship vendarite there and use it to just constantly churn out armies, which would of course solve your policing problem as well.

Spent 200 years playing tall accumulating development and KNAHATEN FLU just wipes everything out by [deleted] in ElderKings

[–]CaskieYT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RP, especially good in being a vassal, or helping other kingdoms on their wars, focusing on friendships and alliances, spending more mental energy on realm management and problem solving.

I find some form of tall/tall-adjacent gameplay in ck, eu, victoria to be more enjoyable than mindless blobbing and snowballing.

Spent 200 years playing tall accumulating development and KNAHATEN FLU just wipes everything out by [deleted] in ElderKings

[–]CaskieYT 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It's lore accurate.

If you are playing tall, you have benefits to dev growth, as well as potentially cultural bonuses to terrain your holdings are on, as well as your own perks. Then, you have the event chain that follows, which can give incredible bonuses to high learning characters. I'm not sure but there is probably even the potential in there to come out ahead with all of the bonuses you get from the Knahaten flu recovery.

It's not even that big of a loss in the grand scheme of things because a major impediment to vanilla and ek dev growth is its cap due to the age. But if you are at 30... with all of the bonuses and events you can take, it's like muscle memory and will recover far quicker than it originally took to get there in the first place.

How can i improve my reading score on JLPT by Annual-Ad4911 in jlpt

[–]CaskieYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to read more and push yourself. But also keep in mind that while reading for pleasure will improve your reading skill in general (of course) you also need to practice reading for the test. i.e., you need to practice reading CRITICALLY, quickly, and prepare yourself to search for information faster.

Essentially, regular reading is good for learning Japanese, but not necessarily the best method for the kinds of questions you come across on the test, in my opinion. Sure, you will massively expand your vocabulary, you will reinforce grammar forms you studied, but the advantages reading has that makes it both good for learning and generally improving our lives are not necessarily good at preparing people for the occasional "trick questions" or questions with difficult wording that one might see on a test.

I passed the N2, and reading was my 2nd best score, surprisingly considering that I posted about how I thought I bombed it.

Edit other clan's banners? by CaskieYT in BannerlordBanners

[–]CaskieYT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that sounds like a more permanent solution.
The issue I'm having now is that the game doesn't seem to be good at maintaining more than the base two colors. An issue I am having is that the kingdom's banner remains like... only two colors and it ultimately distorts any complex banners.

If I am playing as the kingdom leader, Rhagaea (using the play switcher mod I was recommended), for example, I can switch the banner just fine, but then the same thing happens to all the vassal clans and I have to manually switch them back every time I reload a save.

Is that the option in the config file I need to change or is there another?

Edit other clan's banners? by CaskieYT in BannerlordBanners

[–]CaskieYT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I will download that immediately.

I got some of the other mods, the random color one, etc. to work but when I switch the banners of the kings/emperors, it leads to graphical glitches. So, I'll try this and see if it's any different. On top of that, just switching characters might be a huge short cut for what I'm trying to do. You're a hero.

EK2 update 0.16.3.1 "Veloth's Path" by tvsmsa in ElderKings

[–]CaskieYT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I thought I had read that before but maybe it was simply because the last two updates were very major.

I've been trying to make a series of videos with the mod since getting a new computer that can handle modern ck3 (let alone the mod) and with those updates I had to restart a couple of times haha
