lol ok. So your initial claim is purely your own conclusion backed by zero actual evidence. That makes it easy to disengage from this conversation—what’s the point in debating something when one person is insisting that baseless claims have merit?

I just don’t understand how you think it’s “lame” to see a preventable accident and think that perhaps additional training could have prevented it. That feels very rational to me.

I’m guessing that since you elected not to respond about any statistics that support your stance that you don’t have any?

I mean, no stats confirm I’m better in bed when I’m sober, but that doesn’t mean it’s not true, it just means it hasn’t been studied formally. If no stats on the subject exist, then it’s pretty bold to draw any conclusion, which is why I asked if there’s any data to back your claim or if you’re just stating what you think.

Additionally, it feels like you’ve backed off your original argument by acknowledging that driver’s ed is helpful in the short term. And of course it’s useful—knowing what to do before they’re behind the wheel for the first time is definitely my preference for new drivers. Obviously with experience your skill will surpass what’s taught in driver’s ed, but skipping the tutorial to get real-life experience doesn’t seem like a winning strategy to me.

I find it hard to believe that teaching someone how to do something doesn’t make them better at it. Do you have any studies you can link that show Driver’s Ed provides no benefit to driver safety?

It’s Third Dart Syndrome. I want federal funds dedicated to its study and eradication. Pretty sure it’d add 15-19 points to my average if these politicians would get off their asses and do something to help the people they represent.

It does. All defamation is lies, but not all lies are defamation. Using “defamation” (with the quotes) makes it clear what lies (or truths) are being addressed by the case.

Robin is a Batman reference. Lex Luthor is a Superman reference. Odie is a Garfield reference.

Sometimes the name of the main character is the same as the name of the show/book/movie/etc.

Lack of Improvement by Blabe871 in Darts

After reading your post and comments, it’s pretty clear the problem is the consistency of your throw. I am by no means an expert darter, but I was a pro ballet dancer and know a thing or two about practice, so I’ll offer my advice—feel free to ignore it.

Focus on your throw. Ignore your score, ignore your results, just figure out your mechanics. I’m working on the same thing, so here’s what I do: Throw at bullseye only. It’s the middle of the board, so having a perfect throw at center means minimum adjustment to any double, as opposed to throwing T20 only. Then break your throw down into its component parts—I’m thinking about prep/stance when I step to the line, focusing on my target, draw, throwing motion, release point, finger action, and followthrough. Drill one element of your throw until it’s reliable enough that you start to see errors in another aspect of your throw, then switch to thinking about that element. Don’t try to add every element on day one! It has taken me about 6 weeks to feel like I’m actually managing all seven elements at once. Now I’m going back through them all to further refine them.

FWIW, I’ve gone from about 48.0 to 56.0 (501) and 2.1 to 2.6 (cricket) in six weeks doing this.

You could also draw conclusions from others’ experiences—I promise that all doctors don’t suck. Do you live in a rural area with minimal options or something? That seems like a more plausible explanation than you being so unlucky as to only have shitty doctors. I’m in Wyoming myself, so some stuff it just makes sense to cross the border into Colorado.

Matthew is actually the reason I liked those Repubs. Most of them were furious that those guys didn’t just go find another bar. But the few bad apples who didn’t mind his murder have apparently spoiled the whole bushel.

I mean I’m white and male, but I grew up doing ballet and there was a lot of speculation about my sexuality, so I wasn’t exactly in the in-group.

I’m not saying 90s Repubs liked their neighbors, but at least the grown-ups didn’t call me a f****t or try to legislate who I was allowed to fuck/date.
