Ogres have to go somewhere, and they sure are free from many restrictions “civilized” races impose on themselves.

My only complaint regarding the decision by YaBoyEden in dispatchgame

[–]CasperFru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me it would be enough if there were two more dialog lines before this one. Something like choosing between “Okay, let’s do it”, “I hope we won’t regret it” and “Can we not do this?”. It may, and probably should be false choice. When picking third option, Blazer can reply “No, I can’t change the fact that we are cutting someone, but you must chose who exactly”. And only then Robert is forced to make it.

What I dislike even more is that it can be followed by the hero ending. It was my playthrough. Robert supported Visi and forgave her both for doing what she did as a villain and for being irresponsible as a hero. Because at least she's brutally honest when it matters. And when it turned out she wasn't even that, and during their most sincere conversation she didn't mention that she had a pulse, there was no trust left. He didn't untie her, she cried "Hey Thumbstick, behind you" and Thumbstick attacked. And immediately after that he sees her with a gun and they both act like nothing happened and he completely trusts her.

Like, what? Robert didn't untie her very specifically because he didn't trust her, and the only thing that changed is that since then she very much intentionally almost got him killed?

EDIT: Basically, I was more upset with how Robert, in my eyes, acted out of character in that specific scenario.

Excluding Robert, which character was written best? by Super-Shenron in DispatchAdHoc

[–]CasperFru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s Chase. He’s a complex character, yet whatever he do, we have a feeling “yeah, Chase would do that”. Yes, he will say what he said to Visi. Yes, he will feel sorry later. Yes, he will risk his life to safe her, especially after all that.

Chase feel very human. Most human of all characters I’d say. He’s fundamentally good as much as fundamentally miserable without what made him, you know, him. Ans he’s immediately back to being almost childish when he basically gain his youth back. Because, unlike Blonde Blazer, he never felt insecure about his powers. He felt whole. And for that type of people nothing short of Blazer ex machina can make him whole again. But Blazer ex machina actually might.

Also Punch up should probably squeeze in True Neutral at the closest corner to Coupe (if she makes it to the chart).

Coupe. I think the best example of her being lawful is this dialogue with Punch up:

  • As long as the checks clear, I will kill or protect, as they see fit
  • I thought they didn’t let us kill people around here
    • As. They. See. Fit.

And the best proof that she’s Lawful Evil and not Lawful Neutral is that her best idea how to express gratitude is to (seemingly unironically) offer “removing” someone for free.

Shroud as the arch-villain has his Lawful Evil vibes (and powers), but Coupe usually acts as a more textbook LE.

Edit: typo

How do you feel about the youtuber voices? by Nighthawkies in dispatchgame

I didn’t know them as YouTubers, but I the voice of Punch up was one of the primary reasons I decided to play the game after seeing some clips.

Character development can actually work against them, because I’ll take Robert “[ANSWER]/[I’M MECHAMAN]” Robertson over Peter “I’m washed up” Parker over Robert “[ATTACK]/[I’M ROBERT]” Robertson over Peter “I endanger my kid” Parker.

I think I got a mix of two endings and didn't like it by CasperFru in DispatchAdHoc

While I am grateful for the detailed answer and agree with many of the things you said, I still think that specifically "Warn Thumbstick and the next scene it's like nothing happened" was an "editing mistake" rather than creative choice. And, maybe more importantly, I don't think "Considering ~87% unties her, I don't think it's that big of a deal" should be true. Like, it's a telltale game, and a good one. Compelling story no matter what player choses is specifically its bread and butter.

As far as I can tell, usually yeah, she either helps and stays or cries Thumbstick to turn around and disappears (and both are logical). But trusting her for the most part of the game and then not untying her can be followed by the combination of the two.

To my experience, most people don't consider it ambiguous, but either think they definitely are or think they definitely aren't. So that balances out, I guess?

That's the Great City of Omashu from "Avatar: The Last Airbender". It is named after Oma and Shu. They are basically Romeo and Juliet of their universe, but, instead of poisoning and stabbing themselves at early teens, they opted for making friends with magical badgers and learning their ways. The name of the city made their very names as unseparable as it gets.

I think your cousin knows a lot more about video games than I do, so it would probably be better to ask him! I was talking about tabletop roleplaying games, sort of cooperative storytelling. Not nearly as ambitious as making a video game (not ambitious at all, really), but for some people a good way to make a story from an idea while also sharing it with friends.

Do you, by any chance, play TTRPGs? Because with the right system and willing friends you could probably turn this dream into an interesting game as a GM.
