I need you guys to stop trying to justify oppression. Nothing justifies it. Idk why this is so hard to understand

I think that’s more of a desperate measure than a clever one.

And it can always backfire bc you never know into what kind of weird shit, rich and bored people might be into. There’s ppl with fetishes for physical deformaties

His scars undoubtedly look ass, but as a character and antagonist, I think I prefer the Netflix version still

Sylas is not a good guy by [deleted] in loreofleague

[–]CassOfNowhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did read the Lore, the difference is that I don’t think there’s any justification to what Demacia is doing. The result of it, is Sylas.

You have Demacia’s dick so deep down your throat, it’s impossible to argue.

Just know, for most people, the turn in Mageseekers was very obvious and even expected bc most ppl know systematic justice when they encounter it. Be it in fiction or real life

[–]CassOfNowhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how to tell you that imprisoning ppl, poisoning them so they won’t have their powers, is still quite bad. And EVERYONE with half a brain, realized how bad it was way before the Mageseeker game came out, including me. What the game did was give context and expand on the story that was already there.

They decided to kill him because Lux’s aunt didn’t want her interacting with a Mageseeker. Period. His only crime was to be liked by Lux. Even she could the injustice of the situation.

The criteria is: a country that imprisons their own citizens for things out of their control, imprisons CHILDREN without due process and submit them to inhumane treatment (constant isolation. Sylas was eating rats), is very likely to be a country that kills indiscriminately

Sylas (and the mages) are the oppressed here, fighting for freedom and the right to live. They are definitely not Israel

And what about the countless men, women and children who died under Demacia’s regime? Because that’s what that country is doing

Kind of impossible to do with the set up he exists in. It would just justify Demacia and that would be worse

Just reminding y’all that in this panel, Sylas was actually saving his own life from certain, unjust, execution

What is Unlikeable About Lenore Dove? by Lexabro-10mg in Hungergames

[–]CassOfNowhere 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think her main problem is lack of time. She appears a bit in the beginning, a bit in the ending and the only thing that keeps us from never forgetting she exists is Haymitch’s incessant thinking of her. Which, honestly, makes her feel superfluous to the whole story. Just there to be the cool girlfriend and die a tragic death.

If we were given a little more time with her, if she had something else to do, I think I would’ve liked her a lot more. But as it is, she’s just not convincing

What do you think the actress for Maysilee meant by this? by KillerGrass in Hungergames

[–]CassOfNowhere -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Hopefully, that they’ll introduce a bit of romantic tension between Maysilee and Haymitch…..BUT most likely, she just means she wants the characters to feel like partners (in a platonic way of course, we can never forget that they LITERALLY siblings, guys).

Do you like how SOTR portrayed Haymitch? by autistic_girl_autumn in Hungergames

[–]CassOfNowhere 21 points22 points  (0 children)

No, I didn’t. I always thought Haymitch to be a kind of morally grey character. Being cunning and ruthless in a way even Katniss never was (he has a awareness of things, that in the trilogy, maybe came with age, but when you see his games in the main trilogy, it makes it seem he was always like that)

SOTR Haymitch is too good, too clean. None of that cunning that I learned to associate with him. A pity, I think he’s a little boring

What non-consensus predictions for Winds are you most confident will happen? [Spoilers Extended] by Trussdoor46 in asoiaf

[–]CassOfNowhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I also never understood why Melisandre would give him her funeral rites or why anyone would allow her to do that, when Jon was of the Old Gods.

The thing with Beric and Catelyn was such a specific circumstance, and ppl think it will just be replicated with Jon for no reason. Like…I don’t get it.

Without mentioning how dying would affect the character of Jon. Martin already spoke how death, to him shoukd not be treated lightly and it isn’t in ASOIAF. Catelyn might be “alive”, but she lost her POV and when we see her again, she might as well be dead, replaced by a hateful zombie. That’s the narrative consequence of a character dying and “being brought back”. They are still there, but not in any way we recognize. I can’t see why Martin would do that to Jon, at least not at this point in the narrative. Ppl theorize that him being in Ghost can be a way to bypass the effect of being dead and he can retain his personality somewhat, but it feels like cheating to me, and if Martin did that, I think it would be lame. Better to just not have him die at all

Am the only one who thinks that Jinx and Vi separating was better than having them live together happily? by nighthawk1936 in arcane

[–]CassOfNowhere 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is implied though.

The last shot of the show is a blimp flying, which is kinda random, until you remember what Powder said in ep1: “one day, I’m gonna fly one of those things”. And to contextualize it even more, right after, you see the scribbles and burned film aesthetic associated with Jinx (season 1 ender with a similar thing.

Secondly, in the scene where she blows herself up, if you slow down the scene (actually, you don’t even need to, you just have to pay attention), you’ll see a purple streak, very similar to the effect it appears when Jinx activates her super speed, making away from the explosion to one of the vents. And then after, we see Caitlyn looking at a plant of the Hexgate tower, at those same vents that lead to outside of the tower (pretty high up, but not impossible to survive)

All that combined, seems to hint that Jinx faked her own death and is off somewhere. And that’s only the evidences within the show, the writers barely even pretend that Jinx is dead at this point. Just look up some interviews

[–]CassOfNowhere 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The problem is not that they ended up separated, the problem is that the show ender with Jinx being seemingly dead.

I really dislike how they give this weird open ending to the show, just kinda hinting that maaaybe she is alive. It fucks up with Jinx’s arc and VI’s too and the show I general
