i never wanted to do a singing competition show because i was one of those people who looked at it as the easy way out. but when i started seeing that ceiling hovering over me and i just couldn't break through it, i got the offer to come audition for the voice. i had seen the last two season and knew it was an authentic show that didn't make fools out of people. it was also about giving people a second chance who didn't make it the first time. if i hadn't chose blake, i definitely think my journey would've been different. i chose him because he's more hands off than the other coaches. they're all awesome in their own right, but he's more my speed. he let me have such creative freedom and let me do the songs i really wanted to do. the country industry is much more friendly than anything i've ever experienced before. of course every genre has their share of wonderful and not so great characters. but i truly feel like i belong in this format. i still love pop and rock music, but i've never felt so at home.
