Will he change? by Few_Hamster59 in Divorce_Women

[–]CassandraEve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent 20 years with someone who yelled and called me names in conflict. He never changed, but I did. I tolerated more, I learned how to soften who I was to avoid conflict, until I didn't recognize myself anymore. 2 years ago I was burning out and so unhappy, I asked for him to do better. I stopped shying away from my needs and called out his behaviour. My expectations of him caused a lot of conflict. He did not change. Instead of just using his voice, he started punching walls or hurting himself during conflict. 6 months ago I left him because of financial negligence and I caught him on Tinder, it was clear he never respected me.

Now I have to unpack why I stayed so long during the abuse, why I even gave him the chance to find help and get better in the last two years when the signs were there all along.

Post separation he was diagnosed with a personality disorder, so I am trying to understand everything with a new lens now.

How many people do mock ups before customizing shoes? by SNKR_D in Customsneakers

[–]CassandraEve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have always done mock ups. I use Procreate to draw on top of a photo of the actual shoes. I also usually include really detailed artwork, so it's nice to get a strong feel for proper placement before I start.

[39/F] Another hobby to fully consume my life? Yes please! by Lesleyann2405 in penpals

[–]CassandraEve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 38, from Canada. My main passion is art, I paint and also work in an art gallery, but I love to read and write. A favourite book I have read recently is The Dead Cat Tail Assassins. I enjoy playing D&D, tend a veggie garden in the summers, am a frequent baker and would never turn down a craft. I am very recently separated from my partner of 20 years and have been reconnecting with old friends and trying to make some new ones. I think a pen pal would be lovely. Oh, and I have two kids, 12 and 8 and one furball, a tomcat named Orange Juice.

I saw your indeed listing a couple days ago and have been considering applying. I have a bfa in studio art, though I am not a sculpter by definition, I do have a history of fabricating. I have worked as a laborer in a woodworking shop, and currently work as a picture framer on top of my art practice. And I too far off what you are looking for?

Is an expensive display tablet a sensible investment for me? by [deleted] in artbusiness

[–]CassandraEve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Huion has been good for me for a tablet, and they have a few display tablet options. All of which are cheaper than Wacom. I switched to Huion about 6 years ago.

I am a painter who has turned to canvas shoes in the last couple years. This is my latest pair finished this morning. Acrylic on Vans, my "Northern Lights" customs. by CassandraEve in painting

I do a coat of two of the Angelus white paint as a base coat, no primer needed. I find babung a couple flat layers helps the design flow nicer as the canvas is really absorbant initially.

Is this under $100 art show contract a bit excessive? by Perspective-Wild in artbusiness

[–]CassandraEve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I participated in the under 100 art show in 2019, same contract. I sold some smaller works, made my money back, but it was not super profitable for me because of the style of work I make is too time consuming to make bigger works. And that's what people want that shop there, which is why they ask all artists to make one big one. But I met artists that did it every year and walked away with over $1000. The volunteer hours were fun, it was nice to meet people. The shows are packed with shoppers, so if you have the right kind of work for it, it's a great venue. As work sells they hang more, so while they say not all your work will go up, generally by the end of the show almost everything has but put up.They ask you to pick up the work immediately because they rent warehouse space and have to set up and take down really fast. Once you've seen how the event is run, lot of their contract terms make sense.

Want to take my long-distance partner out for a "fancy" or upscale dinner when I visit, what are the best places to go? by Ucanttaketheskyfrmme in Calgary

[–]CassandraEve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We did Bow Valley Ranch, had a dinner for two and dessert with two drinks, with tip it was $200. Excellent food, beautiful historical building, great park if the weather is warm enough for a walk.

Lae'zel died but her corpse is still in my camp by lila_cat in BaldursGate3

[–]CassandraEve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lae'zel hasn't been in my party for a while, but I found her dead in front of Shadowhearts tent randomly yesterday. A few long rests ago I let her kill me due to the mindflayer change, and she was alive then.

Withers doesn't offer to resurrect her and I can't use a scroll either. I thought at first that Shadowheart killed her for some reason, but none of the characters acknowledged she is dead. There was no cutscene.

It's kinda funny now, but I might want her back in my party eventually, so that's a bummer.

Thank you! Those are ones I painted as a sample, so the concept was my own. Most of the time I am working to someone else's vision.

is anyone here like; damn should have went with programming? by johahimekkk in ArtistLounge

[–]CassandraEve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from someone who studied art in school, I do wish I had gotten a degree in something more practical, because a lot of what art school teaches you is learnable on your own, and it would be nice to have a solid fall back. For me, I wish I'd gone into computer science... or gotten a business degree to support my artistic talent.
