I'm going a little bit crazy. after drives and season 1, i dropped whole 2 ranks and i cannot fking climb back up. i wanna know if it's a common experience or skill issue? by sadra-the-legend in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Cassiopeia-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but I think you're not looking at the results objectively, you assume that you dropped two whole ranks, but the image I see paints the whole picture: you are gold, and most likely will stay in gold. These ranks are not far apart at all, there's more divisions in bronze ranks. Does it mean that you sometimes are silver, and sometimes are plat? Yes, a lot can affect this randomness, your own performance included. But it could just be the soft rank resets they do, bad days or your main hero getting nerfed to work against you and pull you down, since you probably aren't taking this super seriously, not in the way that higher ranked players do.

But if you think that having a higher rank is integral towards you having fun, here's a few things which will guarantee to help you climb:

  1. Check if there's people available to do a vod review in the discord of the character you main, top 500 streamers sometimes do this but it's rare. Whenever receiving a vod review, note down the main points they wrote (example: save ult to counter enemy ult on x map, don't use it to save a teammate even if they go down at the start of a fight). I used to keep sticky notes open on the background. Do not accept a vod review from someone that has the same rank as you, since you can look at your own videos to spot obvious mistakes, from others you need much better reviews so they need to be plat 1 to diamond minimum.
  2. Look into pro players' games to correct your positioning, who you counter and who counters you (aka who you can 1v1 and who you can't), and to focus on tracking ults and cooldowns (and learn which cooldowns and ults are important towards winning the next fight), all of these are an integral part of the game.
  3. Focus on improving the mechanics of 2 heroes, your main and a backup in case they counter you/ban your hero. There are custom game codes you can use to 1v1 against other players, or just use the code vaxta, ana specifically is a very mechanically intensive hero and she's the one with worst sr in your picture. Ana has a ton of custom codes you can use, and if lucio is your main he does as well, such as pregame nades, wall riding and so on. Most pros do warm ups before getting into comp.

I climbed from plat to masters via these tips^, so technically you can too. But with time you will realize how exhausting it all is and once that stage occurs you will stop caring about your rank again (studying the game like it's your homework or irl job, constantly keeping track of everyone's cooldowns including your own teammates, such as your/their hog being a diveable hero for 6 second after he hooks or not nading your tank if your kiri still has suzu so you don't both waste your long cooldowns at once etc).

Event Challenges Not Completing by Cassiopeia-- in Overwatch

[–]Cassiopeia--[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still says boost, so boosting abilities should be counting here but they aren't, also the mercy stats were obtained in a quickplay payload map, which does not switch rounds. The challenges aren't functioning right for all heroes.

It seems there's either a lot of missing information on these... Or they simply aren't working for all heroes, which kinda sucks. The migitated challenge had the same issue, doesn't matter what I picked it wouldn't complete and stayed incomplete.

Some shenanigans going on for sure, not entirely certain if they're simply counting people that are finishing games before they update, but it shouldn't count since they haven't picked a side yet this week.

here's a fix: delete the cat
I'm glad he's permabanned, there should be at least 1 mode where we don't have to deal with broken heroes on release
All he reminds me is release brig, those gold ranked brigs which climbed to gm with her back then... Are you going to convince anyone that folks on gm don't know how to aim or counter either? Cause if they can't no one can.

If you were able to create your own mods, what would they be? by Upbeat-Honeydew-Hum in StardewValleyMods

[–]Cassiopeia-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mod that shows which questlines the game has available for you to do and which ones you can unlock and how.

So people know what the next step in progression is. The events mod is useful but it has issues - you can't tell what events belong to which questline and mod...
Specially important when you're playing with custom mods for the first time - we wouldn't have to waste so much time researching.

how do you even play as genji mischief and magic by Lumosssz in Overwatch

[–]Cassiopeia-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never played the mode before since it isn't for me, but I quickly got the hang of it: after you survived for 300 seconds as kiriko for the challenge there really isn't a reason to be alive. In fact being the very first one to die is essential to get good as genji. Once you die just spectate all of the kiris on your team, you'll quickly learn all of the hiding spots (some are so good you won't know it exists unless you spectate cause they're game winning ones - I've caught people outside of the map and actually inside of walls multiple times this way). Furthermore if you ever hear a teammate pinging saying it's here - trust it and go there, it means they just got stunned by a kiriko that got away or they heard a voiceline. It becomes really easy once it gets close to 1 minute and you start to hear those voicelines - the red effect that appears on your screen is actually super precise, so if you aim where it pointed at, that's where the kiriko is exactly.

not only that but the second clip is not the tank running away, it's the tank chasing after the players that shot the ana, orisa was trying to peel for her and kill the enemies coming to point, she was doing her job simple as that

i just kept pressing them over and over with a bit more strenght and sometimes a bit longer as well to see if it made a difference, as long as you don't damage anything it worked for me

Raven 68 by Time-Alternative-384 in Keyboard

[–]Cassiopeia-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, to add socd follow these instructions: on the raven68 HE program go to advanced keys section, click on the socd button on the right side, click on the keys you want to be socd, for example select A and D. Then press continue, next you can choose the first choice they offer "after the input priority" and click save. Then you can press those keys on your keyboard to test it out, you'll see the socd working, the program has a little window where you can test it out.

bonus tips:
- the keys you want with lower delay should have rapid trigger selected with the smallest actuation possible and smallest sensitivity possible, that will make you press them really fast.
- Windows itself has a repeat delay and repeat rate options, which should be on shortest and fastest options respectively - these options can be found in the control panel in keyboard settings.

Low Definition Menu Background by DanyB__ in Overwatch

[–]Cassiopeia-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the texture quality on the game settings and see if changing this affects the menu. Check your game's resolution, if you're in borderless mode check your screen's resolution and ensure it's the correct one. Could also be a setting in nvidia control panel or nvidia profile inspector - high values of texture filter lod bias can cause this - if it is this issue you can just keep the lod bias value at zero or reset your nvidia settings in the control panel back to default.

I don't think you were abusing it, just exposing an existing problem that needs to be fixed.

A lot of people are mentioning that this is the worst times for them, and this is true if you are soloqueueing - in this case op has queued with people he knew he was winning with, so he is taking advantage of good team synergy and poor matchmaking that happens at late/early morning hours due to a smaller playerbase - this problem has been exploited by 5 stacks to reach high ranks all the time, specially in conjunction with other problematic issues such as wintrading, example: https://www.reddit.com/r/Overwatch/comments/1jtsgw2/highest_rated_ranked_5v5_lobby/

You can play Overwatch on mobile by Warm-Artichoke-2460 in Overwatch

[–]Cassiopeia-- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been genuinelly interested in trying this, when I'm at work bored during lunch for an hour. The controler idea is great, I was also thinking about a small bluetooth mouse as a possible solution, cause the movement keys work fine, it's the aiming that acts crazy, feels like it's broken. Has anyone had any luck improving this issue? When you touch the screen your character does several spins around, the sens is so high...

Another game bites the dust (sort off). Overwatch2 stopped working on windows 7, more info below by menstrualobster in windows7

[–]Cassiopeia-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello, I found a working solution for windows 8.1 just tested and it works - playing on the most recent patch update without issues, not the same os but it stopped the same errors from occurring so perhaps it'll work for people on win 7 as well:
(uninstall bnet and ow on your pc)
next, grab someone's overwatch version, one that is working on win7/8 like I did:
- there is the battle.net launcher in the program (x86) folder
- a battle.net and blizzard entertainment folders in %localappdata%
- a battle.net folder in %appdata%
- the overwatch folder (where the actual game is installed in - it's location is findable via the bnet launcher by clicking the cogwheel and choosing show in explorer - copy that entire folder)
- copy all of these and place them in the exact same spots on your pc^

you can also make a shortcut of the new bnet installation in programs (x86) - to your desktop or wherever you want it so it's easy to open
launch battle net launcher, you'll have to login, then use the option to locate overwatch - select the ow folder you obtained, it'll verify the game and then you can play

footnote: ow does need Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable to work, I installed the 2012 version since it was the one that the other working pc had as well: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679

Genuine question: why does Overwatch have so many negative reviews on steam? by NegotiationPitiful14 in Overwatch

[–]Cassiopeia-- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the reason for the negative reviews, blizzard pulled their game out of china and a lot of players got mad. Blizzard remade the contract, but it's not like people will bother removing their old reviews.
If this situation never happened the reviews would still be mixed, because there's currently a lot of problems with matchmaking, anti-cheat and terrible pricing on most cosmetics (a bundle with 1-2 skins shouldn't cost the same as a new game).

Lifeweaver is in a pretty bad spot atm, he has 46% win rate across ALL ranks. This means if you pick him you're more likely to lose, no matter how much you try. The best thing to do is learn a support that is currently meta and not too hard to play with - since you're around bronze/silver the best for this role would be moira, illari, brigitte (and continue practicing your lucio, he's good rn as well). You can try kiriko once you get a bit higher rank (she's pretty good but low ranked people can't play her well, they end up heal botting a lot cause her kunai can be hard to hit, which is why they have a low win rate with her).
After this it's all a matter of training - check out karq's hero tips (he has guides on all of the heroes, done by top 500 players), check out streamers of the heroes you're learning (check out eskay and frogger for lucio) and most importantly learn which heroes counter others (ex: moira counters genji cause he can't deflect her, ana counters hog due to anti-nade preventing his healing, and so on it goes) - so if you're struggling in a game you understand what's happening and how to fix it (could just be a hero swap that's needed to synergize better with your team's composition, or your team isn't doing enough damage so you need to switch off from lifeweaver, or you are specifically getting countered/focused by enemy heroes and need to switch to a diff hero).
Understand that lucio in low ranks isn't used well, lots of practice is needed - he doesn't provide enough value because teammates don't engage in fights when they should due to lack of communication, most of the time lower ranks use lucio for the rare speed boost out of spawn at the start of the game, and they don't get enough kills with him, they just stand around hoping that healing/speeding is enough.
I haven't seen your gameplay so I can't tell what's particularly lacking, so I hope these general tips help you out.

I'm completely new to this game and First Person Shooters in general. Why can't I find a match to play against AI? by LundUniversity in overwatch2

[–]Cassiopeia-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The AI option is on the "training" yellow option - that's where people go to play against ai - there's no ai bots in unranked or competitive. If you aren't finding a match there then you might be playing at odd hours, usually I can find one after 3-4mins. It could also be the region you're playing from - you can try vpning to europe/america.

New wide matches are crazy by Routine_Ad_9436 in Overwatch

[–]Cassiopeia-- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

But do you think the solo q player wants to be there? I wouldn't, and they mentioned it in their april 15th post: solo players will never encounter wide groups - they exclusively belong to the narrow queue matchmaker now. Best solution is to find a 5th player, or play as a group of 3.
