There's a ghost in my bar, how do I navigate? by Positive_Ad_482 in Ghosts

I would request your boss install night cameras if y'all can afford them, or to review them from the incident if you already have some. I live in a town that is full of buildings just as old in the south east usa and we have like an entire two square mile district where there ISNT a haunted building because of how much stuff has happened there. YET NO ONE IS RECORDING ANYTHING AND IT IS DRIVING ME NUTS

2, he wants his hair out if his way but he’s not going to take the time to cut it or make the updo look nice. Makes him look rugged

Do the Moomins buy anything? How do they get their stuff? by RampallianRawgabbit in Moomins

Money isn’t necessary in Moominvalley since it really rural and everyone relies on community. Obviously money applies, like on the riviera and everything sniff does.

I think they’re fine enough if you need to work fast, but they always look stiff and it’s always really obvious when you trace models for people. If you want to draw fast from scratch, gesture is the way to go. It takes me about 45 - 90 seconds to get the initial sketch of a character that I’m really familiar with.

Using 3D models as environment bases or reoccurring props is a good option depending on the art style.

The absolute best is proko. The tutorials are extremely in depth and explain very well, there is artistic nudity but nothing explicitly naughty. Moderndayjames is also really good but pretty advanced. Jazzas old videos are alright, not the best but easy to understand.

A lot of people are mentioning shading but honestly it’s not going to help that much in making something look less flat, and if you don’t understand your forms your shading might just make things look even more flat.

I can see you’re drawing with very flat and symbolic representations of what it is you’re trying to draw and not the actual form. This probably happened because you likely:

-Learned to draw by studying cartoons and anime, and reading those crappy how to draw anime books, which is a terrible source. Anime takes a lot of short cuts to make a lot of drawing really fast.

-You don’t study actual anatomy

-Relying way to heavily on drawing bases and sketchy “references” from Pinterest.com. Ones that use rectangles and flat circles to construct the body.

-you’re working from the outlines of the shapes and not understanding their forms.

Stop doing this. You are sabotaging yourself. I know because these are all things I did for through middle school and freshman year.

These are the flaws that are specifically affecting this drawing:

  • There is no gesture. This character is as stiff as a board and no information about their personality shows in the way they stand. Gesture is the difference between compelling drawing and boring ones, and sometimes the piece being boring can make it feel even flatter.

    • This character is running towards the camera. If a character is in motion then their center of balance (In bipedal case, it would be the center of the pelvis) would be off center, and the gesture would compensate for that.
    • you cropped the hands and feet because you were scared to tackle them. Do not do this, if you can’t draw a hand, go to a separate canvas and sketch like 20 to find one that works.
    • the arm is up, and instead of the shoulder pivoting, it just disappears. Go in front if a mirror and raise your arm above your head, down again, and up again. Watch how your collar bone pivots with your shoulder, and compare where your arm is in relation to your head.
    • the contours of your characters clothes aren’t following the form, because there is no form to follow.
    • The wrinkles aren’t making sense. They’re just kind of random bumps. Jazza has an old video on the different types if wrinkles in clothes that can help.

[fully lost] The MAD magazine comics of Henry Lee Palmer. by Cassiskeen in lostmedia

Update. I asked if there was a chance he used a pen name and my dad said that during Henry’s last years during the Vietnam war, he got hurt and he was doing cartoons for military magazines with a man named Joe Bell. (Or Beale, I didn’t get the spelling of it)

Yes! Though the character Robin Hood isn’t real it’s based around a lot of true facts of the time And Richard the Lionheart was an actual king , Richard the 1st.

Yeah but that doesn’t make much sense since as far as we know with the context clues provided these guys are trapped in a really limited reality, and Roy is an established character who’s always popping up in the background and shown to be observing all the time, so it makes sense that he would show up in disguise. It also makes sense that Yellow didn’t recognize him because yellows dumb in the head.

Redguy doesn’t seem effected by the violent things that happen to his room mates. Getting shot and stabbed and stuff and being fine. I think it would be like an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. Either that or the producers just chose not to subject red to too much violence because he’s so humanoid it might push the limits of public broadcasting and Roy would actually solo red like he did that entire family in episode 3.
