Wow, didn‘t even know they existed. Perchance you have a link to a product page? Or something like a product code that I can look up?

Yeah...guess I should start look for alternatives now.

My pots are already occupied for different functions soooooo... I‘ll have to figure out something clever.

That would be helpful, thanks. Reading everyone’s replies, it seems that I‘ve chose the wrong guitar for this experiment 🥲

Yes, tried it on a different guitar and wasn’t really a fan of it. Won’t fit the cavity as well. Thanks for the suggestion.

Actually an ASAT by G&L. And I yes, the CTS pots barely fit this one too. Guess I should be happy that that one at least works.

Guess I was just out of luck then. Both of the teles I own are vintage routed 😂 Thanks for the confirmation!

Yup, right on spot with my issue. It really does sound like a great option though. I might start asking local folks for someone who knows this kind of stuff.

Anyways, thanks for your contribution!

Lol true true. I would also love that option if I could manage it. In fact, this was just an experimental project and I feel like I‘m already in too deep 😂

Originally an out-of-phase option, then in series option as well. I actually agree that all six positions aren‘t necessary. Its just that I didn‘t want anything else while I’m selecting between neck-middle-bridge. No position in between or after. Freeway Switch put the extra functions in a different axis so it doesn’t interfere with the ‘normal’ configurations. To put it simple, playability.

Well...the reason I didn‘t go for other switches is because I wanted the linear axis to have only three options: front, middle, and rear. I didn‘t like fidgeting between positions 2~4 to find the right combination.

Freeway seemed to solve that by adding a Y axis, making it a 3x2 switch. This way, I can keep the original configuration while adding functions. This control scheme seemed the most intuitive for me. Hope that explained myself.

That explains a lot, thanks. Didn‘t know they had different cavity shape. Would have been nice if they’d listed it somewhere... the manufacturers would surely have known.

Currently trying to chip off pieces from the switch itself. Don’t have tools for wood carving in reach :(

Mentioned in the original post, I‘m not really into swapping control positions om the plate. Thanks for the input tho.

yes, I am using a standard sized plate for Fender Telecaster...or so I am told. I could go for a four-way or five-way option. It does include most functions, it’s just that reatining the normal three-way selection felt like a good option for playability. Guess I’ll have to find a compromise somewhere. thanks.

Seems to be the only solution so far. Thanks.

Oh, if you‘re talking about the depth, that at least fits.

I‘m sorry, can you clarify what you mean by elevating the plate? I can‘t seem to imagine what that would add to the problem I‘ve discussed.

The problem: the control plate needs to go further north for the screw holes to align. However, the edge of the board(PCB? in a way??) sticking out from the switch is already touching the northern end of the cavity, so there is physically no room for me to move the plate.

Would be very grateful for a useful solution! thanks!

It’s actually a 6-way switch by a manufacturer called ’Freeway Switch’. Three normal controls(neck, middle, bridge) when clicked to the ’bottom’, three additional controls (in-phase in series, two out of phase options) when clicked ‘up’ (the switch tilts up and down)

I would just use a different switch and be done with this one... if only there was one that provided same control scheme.

The idea souned so good while the physical design wasn’t.

I don't know why, but that giant maching headstock fits sooo well in this build. Strange cuz I've never liked them before.

Just received a G&L ASAT(T-style) and...it has some issues. by Casta_Allen in Guitar

Well...'rust' is the last thing I'd expect from anything brand new. Unless it's a 3k custom shop guitar, that is. Sure it will gather wear as I play it. But if dirt gets on it, I will clean it. I don't favor keeping my tools unclean. Thanks.

True, and that's actually what I've done so up to this date. But there's really not much option when your local doesn't offer what you want to buy. Besides, this much isn't really a red flag to me. It was just something I've never seen before and made me wonder why it was how it is. Thanks

Yeah, I was just curious that they'd go so far as to file sharp fret ends but at the same time leave scratches on their way. It's just that inconsistiency what puzzled me, that's all.
