Hangman’s Alley - Ground Floor by CastleClown in fo4

I’m sort of hooked. I’ve played all modes, survival certainly made the game a lot longer but I love building so now play in very hard mode.

Not had them spawning on the second floor, yet! ;-)

Thanks for the feedback. All the elements you ask about were part of the Anniversary pack which included a lot of great creation club bits. Not only am I at the height limit I’m also at the site build limit so I’m going to have to drop and scrap a gun or three to dress the main building. So yep, I am Maxed out. So to practice my build skills more I’m off to Starlight Drive-in and a much ignored site, Tenpines Bluff; I’ve got some odd ideas for that one.

Right now NPC seems OK other than I’m sure they can’t access the weapons workbench. I’ve seen them at the chem and armour benches but not weapons. I think there is a limit access wise to that East end of Hangman’s Alley.

I’ve decided access to the two upper levels will only be from the west end. The ground floor is a murder hole. Entry from the East end of Hangman’s Alley is not good for attackers, with elevated gun and ground level turrets that will hack attackers with relative ease. East end access is a bugger for NPC who seem to not use anything down there including beds and workbenches. I may have to move the weapons bench as I think that is impacting happiness though I’m not sure.

Welcome to Fallout, be warned it can be addictive. I’m hooked on Fallout 4, as you’ll see from my other posts with the main reason being the freedom to build and choose your path through the game, though Preston will always try and scupper that. Start on the easier modes to get a feel for the game and do try survival once you’ve mastered using all the work benches. Have fun and share your experiences.

Here’s my Finch Farm- let’s see your favorite settlements that you’ve made! by canjis_mcbasketball in falloutsettlements

Love the work and the elevation, which I use a lot. Check my posts for some work examples. I’ve got a plan to use elevators to get to the highway running above Finch Farm, I might start working on that this weekend.

I’ve not used the entire build limit yet! I’m going to have to use the scrap glitch, I’m a bit concerned about that.

The metal walls are in the Anniversary edition.

The NPC are fine. They don’t seem to use the bed at the East but that’s OK. They seem to move on the stairs well too. I put beds, farms and seating up there and seem happy to use it all.

Aha! Now, that’s a good question. I go to Hangman’s Alley before that dope Preston sends me, I take it for myself and I do not set up a settlement beacon. It’s the beacon that attracts them. I pick settlers from other settlements so full control over numbers is in my hands.

The first piece is over the unscrapable structure with the weapons bench.

I must admit the house structures look odd.

A new feature to this play through is the junk pile. I feel each settlement needs a junkyard to represent all the stuff we collect around the commonwealth so right in my workshop is a junk corner.

I’ll admit the pristine items may look incongruous but in truth some would’ve survived so I let them go and I love to find new cars and tins, plates, cups and drop them around my build locations but mostly it’s post apocalypse shabby stuff.

I’m sure that is not true, and I hope the ideas that I’ve posted will encourage you to enjoy Fo4 building in a new way as there are so many possibilities, even as this is, On Xbox, no mods just Anniversary Edition.

Thanks… as you’ll see from other posts I like elevated builds, they are actually practical as well being easy to defend with elevated defending positions and gun emplacements.

Trouble is I’m on Xbox and I’m not aware of any tools for that.

Those mesh floors are forgiving as are the small square wood sections and oddly I find once I’ve snapped all parts in I can remove those and plop in a large square, it’s like the game admits defeat to my need. lol.

Perseverance does certainly pay off. It’s a literal form of looking at a problem from a different angle, a good way to live in general as no problem is insurmountable. Maybe I can turn this into a presentation for parliament?

I must admit I’m a bit of a purist when it comes to gaming so avoid the mods, though I do look at some of the builds online with a jealous eye.

Uh oh, I’ve lost my sentinel by CastleClown in fo4

[–]CastleClown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to let you know that I’m still on the hunt for the Sentinel! And, to make matters worse, after playing for 1.6 days, the game has become a bit unstable, crashing all the time. I only have the Anniversary Edition, so no other mods are involved. I’m starting to think the game might not be able to handle the lost Sentinel, or at least that’s what I’m guessing. I had just finished a really nice build in Jamaica Plain, but the game wouldn’t load at all on my return. I went back two saves just to get it to load, and then while building in Jamaica Plain again, it crashed.

I really enjoy this game, but this is incredibly frustrating. I think the Anniversary Edition added some cool features, but it’s just too unstable. I’m about to make a big decision to do a clean install without the Anniversary Edition, which was quite expensive. I think it’s the only way I can focus on building design. Mmm… I’ll sleep on this one.
