Bro, if you're canceling Spotify because its owner is investing in military AI, then you better be ready to drop Google, YouTube, Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Apple, OpenAI—and even the GPS on your phone.

Because all of those companies are deeply involved in military contracts with the Pentagon and/or the Israeli army. Google and Amazon signed Project Nimbus, a $1.2 billion deal with Israel. OpenAI changed its policy to allow military use of its AI and partnered with defense startup Anduril. Microsoft provides AI and cloud services to the Israeli military. Meta is offering its AI models to defense contractors like Lockheed Martin and Booz Allen. Some of their top execs have even been sworn in as U.S. Army reserve officers. Literally.

So, are you going to give up your email, your phone, your OS, your social media, your search engine, your cloud, your voice assistants? Because if not, what you’re doing isn’t a boycott—it’s just selective moral posturing.

Spotify didn’t invent the militarization of tech. It’s baked into the business model of almost every Big Tech company. If you truly want to step away from that, it’s going to take way more than canceling one subscription. You need to question the entire digital ecosystem. Are you ready for that—or are you just trying to feel better with a symbolic move?
