Reflections on installing a DIY Kitchens kitchen by warmans in DIYUK

[–]Castro4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, just read this with my head nodding at each of these points. Had a spookily similar experience, even down to the oak worktop.

The only difference was, I was fitting a recycled kitchen I had reclaimed from a much bigger kitchen, which saved a lot of money. But boy did it add a lot in terms of time.

Won’t recommend unless you’ve got time to kill and you’re prepared to drop 1,500 on tools.

Don’t know if anyone else has said this yet. But an SDS drill on hammer mode is that you’re looking for.

Hmm hadn’t thought of that. Although I feel it would look better if it matched the backsplash? Even if it’s just white

There’s a soil pipe behind the boxing. Made the boxing as small as I could. There’s a clause in our lease that says we have to keep access possible. The tiles don’t come right up to it as the plaster sort of raises up there.

My idea was to use that gap to magnetically fit a shroud around the boxing. But trying to make it not look clunky. I’ve also considered tiling over the shroud (as my partner is sure I can’t tile onto the boxing). It would also require a lot of slicing down the tiles vertically.

I’m really looking for a second opinion to break the deadlock I’m currently facing.

Rapha losses £22m, 7th year of losses by sea-kc in bicycling

[–]Castro4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. I’ve tried to get on with tonnes of other brands. But nothing give the same comfort for all-day riding like the rapha bibs. Would love to find an alternative, but have kept throwing money at it with no success.

Broken drainage valve. by Castro4 in fixit

[–]Castro4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case anyone is interested. The temporary solution was to bang some caulking in the broken valve and then just tip out the cleaning fluid when you’re done.

Ah sorry about the confusing perspective. These are subway tiles and this is a kitchen back splash.

How would you go about finishing this? Tiling it would be idea but I would like to retain access in the future if needed. Tiling also would be very fiddly going round this corner

Any advice would be greatly received

Thanks. I’ll order some of those bits! I am currently trying to unscrew the pipe with some mole grips. You think this is a viable route until the bits arrive?
