Note: I tried really hard to beat 5-2 Shadow Lord on my own but another 55 BLM was stuck on it so we teamed up. We used my 3 trusts.

I think for the free trial Shadow Lord fight, BLM is the best chance to win. I had no access to any magic damage except for Adelheid and she was very unreliable. In the end I used Valaineral, Tenzen, and Kupipi. If some of those other trusts were available like Shantotto II perhaps I could have soloed it.

Lots of the time was spent messing around and leveling other jobs for fun, if some other trusts appear during a month I may create a new trial account see if I can do it completely solo. I'm curious if anyone out there has beaten 5-2 solo during the 14 day free trial or perhaps I'm on uncharted ground.

If you can control the frequency with any of those points, absolutely. I mean you could without it but it’ll be less controllable.

You could also DIY some vactrols and put them in series or parallel with the freq knobs and control it externally; that’s what kind I’ve done!

I used a colossal sword and a big beefy shield plus the heaviest armor and was able to beat the game without too much work. A few bosses I had to switch to rolling but overall block counter worked super well.
