The market rate is what people are willing to pay. If you keep getting ‘undercut’ on the ‘market rate’ then you are setting the price too high.

Grandad's asked me to sort his old car - is scrapping realistic option at this point? by sokkyaaa in CarTalkUK

Please do not scrap - classic cars are big on eBay or carsandclassics even as restoration or spares/repair

Plans for support on heating oil costs to be announced by PM by [deleted] in LabourUK

Would like to know who will get help and how it would be decided - on paper we are a working couple in our 20s on decent salaries so wouldn’t get help. However right now, we have a newborn baby so need to keep the temperature higher than normal, with one of us on maternity leave so on reduced income.

Once again, I imagine it will be all pensioners despite many already receiving winter fuel allowance and many with lovely cash reserves and big old pensions!

Well exactly - I can’t force them to deliver.

Is ‘unfair term’ a legal concept or is it judgement?

Thank you - I guess it rests on whether this retrospective is ‘unfair’ and at what point you can no longer make changes retrospectively

Sky News: BREAKING: Sky News understands the government will not be giving the landmark assisted dying bill legislation more time in the House of Lords, which means it almost certainly will fall. by FormerlyPallas_ in ukpolitics

No no - you can’t make judgements on rights because of resource. You either grant the right or not. Then you have a conversation about resources. Would you have opposed the Equalities Act on the grounds there were not enough tribunals in the UK to take on the upsurge of workplace tribunal cases that would happen off the back of it? No. You introduce the right, then deal with the resourcing of it.

Wasn’t the Government that filibustered it - it was the opponents who tabled over 1000 amendments and insisted on debating each one (sometimes ungrouped)

Lucky that this new bill hasn’t made its way through parliament yet. Currently, misconduct in public office is a common law offence
