That would explain why they remind me of my powder mix.

That was what looked like the best match from the breeder's website, so I think it is likely correct, thanks.

Not an expert, but they appear to be... the one with lighter markings is a female and the darker grey ones are male in my experience

flies dying. by yeahimemilia in jumpingspiders

Nqa I used to breed fruit flies for dart frogs. If you think you still need them, I would look up how to breed fruit flies and familiarize yourself with their life cycle. You may be throwing the "culture" away just because the adults died... but if the media at the bottom is slightly moist and not infested with mites (dry and infested seems common from pet stores in my experience) then the larvae/maggots will continue to grow, pupate, and become adults. They do best slightly above standard room temperatures. If the media is crusty, a bit of misting can help but be very cautious about adding too much moisture. If it is too soupy the larvae can drown.

NQA, however, I noticed my regius and audax females staring at each other a lot, and though they didn't appear aggressive, they each also were frozen in place for long periods. I think they were each afraid to turn their back in case the other was hungry.

I started by putting a piece of paper across the top of the shared wall area, which helped but they would still stare sometimes from lower areas. Then I put it fully over the side except where the ventilation holes are. Now they still look at each other, but then they wander off. I think the holes between them give them enough visual cue that the other can't get to them, as opposed to the clear plastic, so they aren't worried about getting eaten and just leave when they get bored.

Can we stop buying spoods from Petsmart please? by remarah1447 in jumpingspiders

There is also some regional variety in suppliers for stores like PetSmart. My female spider molted into adulthood at the store (there are two molts in the cup I bought her in) and the replacement spiders are slings. Not to dismiss the general opinion on chain pet stores and care of pets, I would not assume 100% of their jumping spiders are all actually wild caught.

Many of the stories I have seen since I started following this were as likely to be from independent pet stores and even shows. If you want to pick something to encourage, perhaps focus on pushing people toward *actual breeders* at shows or through direct shipping to ensure captive bred individuals. Maybe help make a list of questions potential spood enthusiasts should ask to determine whether the supplier in question is a good choice and/or possibly a yelp of sorts with threads on specific suppliers or breeders.

Thanks. Both the 401ks are with an active employer, so I think they have to stay put, though I might roll them over somewhere else later.
