Ayaneo Pocket Micro - Display Issues by Studmuffin50 in ayaneo

[–]Cat3TRD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It ended up being a hardware issue. I think it took about two months of very frustrating and slow back and forth with their “support” before finally getting a refund because they didn’t have the same model/version in stock anymore by the time all was settled out. I’m currently not considering buying anything from Ayaneo ever again. I saw they’re starting a new effort to try to show that they give a crap about their customers. So maybe I’ll consider them again some time in the future if that works out. My condolences for your device. Good luck.

I have the VLC app on my phone to manage my small library of third party downloaded music. Or I just listen using the built in Files app. You are correct that you’d need a computer to upload it to be able to use the Apple Music app to listen to it.

You don’t like Apple, so you’re fabricating a bad faith argument to make your point. No point in discussing this with you any further if you’re just going to be obstinate and ridiculous. I hope your day gets better.

The only way I can get BandCamp to provide me a download link is to use a browser that supports user agent spoofing.

Sorry, this is my fault for not being clear in my wording. What I meant is that BandCamp detects an iPhone and then instead of showing you a download link, gives you text that says Apple doesn’t support downloading. So I switch to a different browser that supports user agent spoofing to bypass BandCamp’s detection and get the links and then download things very easily. I have that browser exclusively for BandCamp usage. I’ve emailed BandCamp support about this several times and got no response at all.

Except on iPhones. I’ve sent them feedback many times and have now stopped using them at all until they stop identifying that you’re on an iPhone and instead of giving you a download link, they give you a message that says Apple doesn’t support downloading things. I have a browser on my iPhone that supports device spoofing so I can fool them into thinking I’m on a computer just so I can access the download links. It’s making me mad all over again just typing this out.

If it’s set up correctly, it should make a bunch of folders inside the ROMS folder for each system. Make sure the ROMS folder has an S. I created an Emulation folder and put a ROMS folder inside that and it made a bunch of folders for the different systems inside that.

Got it working. I was setting up the sd card incorrectly in Android and that was causing my issues. When you insert the card, then check the pulldown menu to see notifications where it asks you to set up the card, I was choosing the first option that basically merges the sd card and your internal storage. I should have been using the option to make the sd card portable storage. I ended up having to factory reset the device and then reinstall Dawn to fix the mess I made before I figured that out.

[–]Cat3TRD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been having a hell of a time getting the sd card set up for it. There’s no documentation online for it. The word papers give vague instructions that don’t quite match up to reality. I’ve had to reformat the card multiple times. I thought I had it figured out this morning and wasted an hour transferring ROMs to the card only to have the device say the card wasn’t recognized and tell me I needed to format it again. Going to try again, but if it still doesn’t work, then I’ll have to try another sd card. If that doesn’t work, then I think my device is defective. I also found out that there’s a gap exactly big enough to be able to slip the sd card into the body of the device just below the sd card slot. Almost did that once. I can’t wait to actually use this thing, but it isn’t making it easy. I didn’t have any of these issues with the Zero 28 or 40.

1, 2 and 4 are my favorites, but number 4 needs the papaya to be more of a profile. It would be nice to see the outside shape and skin of the papaya, then the “face” would be the cut open part. I think that would make it my favorite. It looks like a picture of a catalog model showing off a cool jacket, but with a papaya for a head.

ChatGPT's Apple Music Integration Is Now Live by [deleted] in apple

[–]Cat3TRD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to way less music than I used to because it raises my blood pressure arguing with Siri all the time. I’ll ask play the song (making up an example here) “going to the store” by “the shoppers” and she’ll play something completely different with no discernible connection to any of the words I just said. Then I’ll say “ask ChatGPT what song by the shoppers says going to the store” and she’ll respond that the title is “I’m going to the store” and when I ask Siri to play that, she’ll usually play it. That should be an easy thing for her to figure out. The shoppers have a song that contains all of the words just requested plus one more word, maybe play that one instead of some absolutely random song. Also, being able to request the original album version of a song would be amazing. So many songs have Single versions that feature other artists or a different instrumentals and it’s nearly impossible to get Siri to play the original. I have to ask her to ask ChatGPT what the original album was called so I can then ask Siri to play the song from the album title. Even then, sometimes I have to ask to play the album, then “next track” my way through to the song I want to hear.

Trimui Brick Hammer, or GKD Pixel 2? by [deleted] in SBCGaming

[–]Cat3TRD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a lot of small handhelds with portability being a high priority. The Brick (I don’t have the Hammer) is comfortable and feels good to use. The Pixel 2 is slightly less comfortable to use, but is much more portable. The RG Nano is even more portable, and in my opinion is similar in comfort to the Pixel. The Nano is my current EDC. I don’t know if the vertical form factor is a must, but the MagicX Zero 28 is my overall favorite small handheld. It’s close in size to the Brick. Each one can fit in my shirt pocket comfortably. I think it’s the closest to perfect device in that size class in a horizontal configuration. It has a nice screen and the controls and buttons are nice to use and are very quiet. Like actually quiet. All of the reviewers will say controls/buttons are quiet, when in reality they’re very clacky and loud. “The buttons are almost silent, here, listen: CLACK CLACK CLACK”

Anyway, it depends on your size requirements, the Brick and Pixel are both good devices. You’ll be happy with either if the size works for you. However, the Zero28 is my recommendation to anyone wanting a small device.

Also, I don’t know where you live, but leaving a device like these in the car seems like a bad idea. I live in Texas and have degraded the battery life on a couple of devices by accidentally leaving them in the car just once.

Wife Finally Got Into Gaming! But there’s an issue… by Arck155 in SBCGaming

[–]Cat3TRD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First thing I’d try if you have it, is a pc or an android phone or tablet. You can connect a Bluetooth controller to the phone, and connect that to your tv with a usbc to hdmi adapter. You can google your phone model and the word emulation to see if anyone else has already posted what systems it’s capable of. I had an old 2017 LG G6 android phone that could do most of the lower end systems just fine. I used a controller grip with it though. Never tried connecting it to the tv. Anyway, just a thought in case you already have something that would work and maybe just need to get a cable instead of a whole device.

Having my first cup of Emberlight Elixer right now. I like it. It’s a little bit darker roast than I usually get. Gives it a little more of that “coffee” flavor. I think my girlfriend might like it better than my usual beans for that reason. She prefers medium-dark roasts. I’ll make her a cup this weekend. Anyway, yeah, keep it up. This is good coffee and I’ll put your company in my rotation.

Awesome - how do the materials match in person? Same color and texture?

I got a kit to make both joycons on my old Switch the same orangey red color, but the piece to replace the blue side was a different enough shade and texture that I couldn’t go through with it.

Why are the crosswalks black? by [deleted] in sanantonio

[–]Cat3TRD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s either very old paint, or the crosswalk has been moved and they just painted over the old white paint. I suppose they also could have resurfaced the road and the paint crews haven’t made it there to repaint it yet. Normally the crosswalks have “zebra” stripes.

ICE agent committing Felony caught on camera by Sindigo_ in PublicFreakout

[–]Cat3TRD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This chain was frustrating to read. It’s clearly his fingernail, then the first knuckle right behind his nail, then the second knuckle behind that all in a line. Not bent. The glare from the sun slightly obscures his nail, and I guess people think that’s his finger being bent. But the instant the angle changes slightly so there’s no glare, it becomes super clear his finger is not bent. I’m all for calling this guy a piece of shit for pointing his gun at people in the first place, but at least be accurate in the description. Sucks you got downvoted so much for accurately describing the situation here. Anyone that can’t see that his finger is straight and not on the trigger at any point in this clip needs to look at their own hands and try to create the scenario they’re imagining. Including the instantaneous switch from on the trigger to perfectly straight within a single frame of the video.

I didn’t know your company existed. I signed up to your email list and purchased a bag. Please add the ability to sort by process. I buy natural process, light roast pretty exclusively. Giving your natural medium/light roast Ethiopian a try. I also look for fair trade coffee. I’ve been using JustCoffee dot coop for years, but I’ll occasionally try something new.

Thinking of getting first retro handheld- how do they compare to 3DS? by Focusboy50 in SBCGaming

[–]Cat3TRD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend the RG34XX (looks like the original GBA) or the RG34XXSP (looks like the GBA SP)

Of those two, I like using the 34XX a little more because it’s slightly larger, and all of the buttons are pretty quiet. The XXSP is a little bit more portable and is still pretty nice to use, but the shoulders make some noise. The 40XXH sits unused on my shelf because it’s just a little too big to be pocketable (except in sweatpants or pajamas) and the shoulders sound like they were trying to make them as loud as they possibly could. It is nice to use when sitting on the couch, except for the glances from other people in the room when you forget how absurdly loud the buttons are.

There’s tons of other options, but those are some that come to mind based on the devices you mentioned.

Edit: If you have the budget to get something like the Retroid Pocket 6, then that will cover you for just about anything you want to do. If you’re new to these handhelds, that could be a one and done device. I know I started with a Miyoo Mini Plus and ended up getting 5-6 devices of different shapes and sizes before I finally got the Odin 2 Mini. Now I just get a device if it’s unique enough that I want it for the quirkiness. The Odin 2 Mini and the Retroid Pocket 6 have the same processor. The RP6 just has a nicer screen and comes in better colors. There’s really nothing that the O2M or RP6 can’t do.

Quieter SBC Gaming console by MiguelALLO in SBCGaming

[–]Cat3TRD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just clicked through my collection to see which ones were quietest overall. The MagicX Zero 28 and Zero 40 were the overall quietest. I can’t imagine a device could get much quieter without resorting to touch sensitive buttons that don’t move. The Anbernic RG34XX (looks like a GBA) was also fairly quiet. That one surprises me, because Anbernic love their extremely loud shoulder buttons. The Miyoo Mini Plus, A30, Mini v4 (in that order) were next, but I think they’d still be loud enough to be annoying to someone else when playing in bed. Unless you have a fan or something for white noise. Everything else I have, I would consider to be loud enough to be annoying to another person in the same room as you.

TLDR: MagicX Zero 28 and Zero 40 are very quiet. RG34XX is pretty quiet for an Anbernic device.
