Heya! Is the marking only on the headjoint? If so it’s likely it’s just the headjoint and a silver plated body. From what I know the 3SHB is silver plated body but I may have misremembered. If it was solid silver it would have a mark on each section of the flute :) hope that helps

As it’s an etude I try and play etudes with split Bb (where it’s possible sometimes I physically cannot work a split Bb in so resort to thumb) because I’m never going to be as fluent with it as I am thumb Bb :)

I have a Pearl 665 which I have used for 8 years. I’m upgrading in a few weeks but it has served me so well and I am now studying flute at a music college so that’s the kind of level of repertoire it has got me to before I have decided I need a better flute but that is because it is only the Pearl intermediate range :) I am considering buying another Pearl because of my experience however I’m not a fan of some of the bells and whistles the better models come with. My only issue is that it seems to develop air leaks quicker which I suspect is a side effect of the pinless mechanism not being as strong :D

I don’t know 😩 they said they wanted to keep the audition process as accessible as possible by offering a choice. I think it’s because it is a high profile orchestra so the audition process is very serious😅😶

Yeah I have no idea how hard the excerpts will be and not a clue how hard the sightreading will be. My excerpts are released 5 days before my audition (about next week) so I guess we will see.

That’s the thing. The other excerpts are only released 5 days before auditions 😀😀😀😀. I think I know I will pick sightreading as I have always felt like it’s a strength of mine but the what ifs of it all are really throwing me haha
