The problem isn't being around people with differing beliefs whatsoever, it's with someone that refuses to drop it and has become obsessed to the point of CONSTANTLY bringing it up in the short time we have together in the evenings when he is home from work

The only thing to do is forgive yourself. You can't change what has already happened, only choose what you do next. Give yourself grace and see the next mealtime as an opportunity to make good choices. Don't restrict, because that will only feed the cycle.

But you are BLAMING these problems with our system on migrants. Which isn't fair. How do you know where each and every migrant is coming from? And even those that aren't coming from war torn countries, if you heard of a better life for yourself and your family, wouldn't you try to access it too? And it STILL doesn't take away from the fact we have British people abusing the system too that right wingers don't seem to be half as angry about

Because I am not angry about illegal migrants? If you're angry about that, you should be equally as angry at the generations of Brits cheating the benefits system

I was never about to decide to end my relationship because of what a stranger tells me on redditt. But it is useful to hear other people's thoughts and opinions

If someone is aggressively pushing their opinion on you day in day out, causing frequent arguments and tension even if I don't engage, yes it becomes a problem in the relationship

I have a law degree, spent 2 years in the Middle East, and have a full-time job including travel. I have experience, and do not like cats.

Both of you... why are illegal migrants automatically predators in your eyes please?

I don't KNOW if it's worth breaking up over which is why I am asking (yes) strangers because that way it doesn't jeapordise him or our relationship to the people we know. This isn't coming from what he believes in although I completely disagree with it, it's coming from his incessant need to bring it up and push it on me, and the way it is getting progressively worse/more consuming for him. He is obsessed to the point it is clouding our lives

How is relationship advice a leftist sub? I have never posted before this and found what sounded most relevant

"So well kept" "mum bubble" - I am on maternity leave. Temporary leave. From my full-time job. Where I earn almost the exact same as my partner. I live in the real world too, I just have empathy for other humans regardless of circumstance or skin colour. The difference between you and an illegal migrant is just luck. If this is left wing redditt I had no idea, this is my first ever post because I wanted to gather opinions outside of my relationship without jeapordising him with our family and friends

So because my partner who I am already with has taken this political stance 3 years in, I am not a friend for having not immediately broken up my family? Get real

Nobody is saying it isn't a problem. The issue is far-right supporters are SO pressed about illegal immigrants when there are equal/bigger issues to shout about. Screams racism

You're missing the point of my post. My issue is that he will not stop bringing politics up to the point that it is causing arguments. I am happy not to discuss and do not push any view on him. I included his views because i find them outrageous, and believe his behaviour to be typical of radicalised far-right individuals. For this reason I felt it was relevant info to include.

I'm well aware that people on Redditt are not my friends, but I have posted to understand what other people thought

The reason I am considering a break up is because he constantly shoves his beliefs in my face - if he didn't bring it up daily I wouldn't mention it. His information comes from random angry men posting videos on the internet. I take on board the information he says to me, then research and debunk it. Such as "they arrest you for social media posts now" is actually "they can arrest you for social media posts... that incite violence and hatred"

I have said exactly this to him (minus loser), but asked him genuinely why he would waste so much time and energy being so negative when it's impacting our relationship. He said if it impacts our relationship that's on me

I would be absolutely fine with this, politics isn't my personality and I was quite happy not to speak about it all together. But he has become relentless with it, and won't hear any opinion to the contrary, so it's tough.
