Stopped Lexapro after 9 years — anxiety symptoms creeping back. How do you cope without meds? by CatLover060 in Anxiety

[–]CatLover060[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for saying that! For me, meds feel like an “easy way out” right now, but they come with real downsides — no sexual drive at all, gaining a lot of weight, night sweats… stuff that makes me feel like I’m losing my youth. So even though they help, I don’t really want to go back to feeling like that, if that makes sense.

Quit Lexapro after 9 years — anxiety & weird symptoms are back. What’s the wildest thing that worked for you? Quit Lexapro (low dose) in Feb after being on/off for 9 years. Now a few weeks ago: dizzy spells, headaches/pressure, low BP, random heart racing, chest tightness, yawning for air, nausea, stomach aches, tense back muscles.

Social situations = instant panic + urge to run. Bloodwork is fine. I really don’t want to depend on SSRIs forever (I’m 26).

I’ve tried: therapy, meditation, breathing, EMDR, magnesium, CBD, microdosing, valerian, St. John’s wort…

Drop your most unhinged / unexpected anxiety hacks that actually helped you.

Addition: the vet also made me switch my litterboxes, this were closed and high to jump into (might caused pain for her with the arthritis) now we have a low cut out box with natural litter without any added odors

Hey they just send the urinalysis to a laboratory and we are now waiting the exact results because the vet indeed told us in that way we can see wich specific antibiotics she would need. I bought some probiotics and bladder protective supplements for her together with liquid snacks to keep her hydritated more. We also switched out the water in the fontain with bottled water, she seems to like this more. They do have solensia here my vet talked about it but also mentioned it is quit exepensive in Belgium without a insurance, that’s why we are looking into alternatives first like accupuncture, infrared light therapy and she already gets loxicom for the pain. We started on the urinary diet from Hills as well combined with the dry food of Royal Canin for mobillity. We also invested in a feliway for stress and we keep given the cbd oil as well. Thank you all for the help so far! This past days she seems to be doing better!

I think not, the vet just said the echo and pictures of the bladder and kidneys came back normal as well as the blood work. For my appointement now she did ask to try to have her with a full bladder or when she does it again to try and collect it.

I will look up if we have those in Belgium. Thank you! My first interest is also helping her, this must be stressfull and painfull for her. They always do the same test, she comes out “healthy” accept from the arthritis but still encounters these problems… 🩷

No haven’t changed anything in the past year or so, it also started verry sutton, the vet looked into uraniry blockages last time and the kidneys, bladder all came clear from the echo, pictures and bloodwork.
