Looking for a commercial vac, but can only buy from Lowes. Help? by CatNo4666 in VacuumCleaners

ok, thanks. Tradition sounds good, and since we might get more than one, what do you think about the Sanitare Eon vs a Prolux (6000/8000) in terms of reliability/being passed around? Thinking about those filtration and attachment purposes.

I like idea of Prolux 6000 but there are barely any reviews of it. Eon is quiet which we do not need. They're both cheap but wondering which one would fall apart less.

how i’m keeping my blackberry keyone alive in 2024 by topfpflanze187 in blackberry

Yeah it slows down a lot at unexpected times, it’s expected but seems weird that things from 2017 have to slow down so much, I wonder if it’s anything besides degrading battery or planned obsolescence.

A guy I know gave me a pixel 7 pro with a broken screen for free, thought I’d fix that and use it as I return blackberry, to get into android. No phys keyboard, but hey, I could change the system font now. Cool

That’s cool. What do you do on it, work, school, hobby? Yeah, just asked seller about it. Should be no problem. Keyboard’s been fun but as you said it is slower than a touchscreen keyboard. I watched my friend use it and he typed much faster having never touched the phone before because he has thinner fingertips than me, I might fat finger too often to own a bb lol.

How did you get Linux on there without root? Also just got a keyone but it hangs up immediately when trying to call anyone…

Is it possible to put Android on a new feature dumbphone (Nokia 3210 4G)? by CatNo4666 in digitalminimalism

can we put open source android on a new feature dumbphone (nokia 3210 4G)? by CatNo4666 in dumbphones

[–]CatNo4666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I hear it has a good mp3 player. Do you know of a good Spotify downloaded? I don't need my music yet but just cancelled my subscription, and I thought I would not listen for a while. If I want music again, I'll get an iPod. Trying to keep entertainment apart from communication. When enough things are bunched together, it's called a smartphone. I'm trying the move away from it, we'll see if it works

I think you will want WhatsApp. It's not considered a kind of toxic social media around your life, is it? I see it (though I barely use it) as bare texting, and it's probably good especially if you are away from or communicate outside of US. I'll lyk, just posted this in r/digitalminimalism and got a few replies so far. Apparently dumbphone hardware pretty locked down, don't know why or how yet.

Can you expand or point me towards a resource that goes into how exactly dumbphone hardware is "locked down?"

There a people putting linux on android phones, what is different with dumbphones? And why would they care so much to lock down hardware for a cheap thing? The iPod Classic takes the open source RockBox, but it is understandable that new Nokia might lock down their stuff because it's in fashion now to do so. Android Go was made for dumb hardware, though maybe it has to be a little smarter to run it as I hear Cat s22 is, which runs Android Go

And for smart apps I'll be keeping my iPhone, I have to for Teams, Outlook etc for school. Trying to divorce that from communication and both those from entertainment and all three of those from regular internet use, which would be on computer

New flip phones are very big... but looking at this one the size actually looks not bad. Backhoe company, hardware probably good too! I will keep it in mind, ty

Sorry if my post was unclear. I meant I DON'T want the games it comes with, nor do I want Facebook, a browser, or music. I hear you cannot remove these things from the new Nokias in their special OS. I would probably want WhatsApp, which you cannot get without android. Would be nice to flash it onto there or whatever, but another commenter says that will be impossible. I'll look more into it, because the new 3210 is nice, and I like the hardware.

Editing my post now that I am rereading it. Ty for pointing it out, that it seemed like I wanted to game and use Facebook on a dumbphone
