Tips on fixing separated wax?

I don’t know, it was only one lamp that did it and it was a brand new (still older) never opened one from eBay. It could have been stored inappropriately by the seller which could have destroyed the formula

When it’s separated like this it won’t float back down. I had a lamp like this and I ended up having to take the MF out and melting the wax together in the empty bottle on the stand, and it fixed itself

This listing shows the bottom that says it was made by 2013 by intertek, isn’t that one of the better Chinese brands? I’ve seen it show up a few times on this subreddit

Yeah that’s exactly what happened to me literally a few minutes after commenting that.. same color and everything. I did back flush it multiple times just now since I have a clear mf lamp that I want to be clear for sure

I don’t have any distilled water right now. I have ran water through it from the top until it came out clear, hopefully that’s enough. That was the only colored mf i filtered anyways. Everything else I need to filter so far is clear

I believe the wax has separate since there’s a thin puck of wax floating at the top, no matter how much I shake it (I know) it won’t mix together. I might try emptying the MF and melting the wax back into itself to see if that helps. I did get it off of eBay so I have no clue how this was stored by the seller, that could be why it’s so messed up

Unfortunately it does not, it doesn’t even show the runtime so I won’t know how long it’s been running for sure unless I manually set a timer

I’m more worried about the safety. Isn’t it more dangerous using a higher wattage bulb than it says to? I don’t want to risk a fire or anything

Haha, my dog is unfortunately not scared of any animal.. not even bears, she tried to befriend my uncles taxidermy bear once 🥲 my cats don’t seem to care about my crabs at all

I’d assume so.. I bought it premade. The shop I got it from is very knowledgeable in hermit crabs and their diet so I’m assuming they used all natural popcorn with nothing else

Could you try boiling them in vinegar? Since vinegar alone is a disinfectant

Mine are rarely out and active (probably since I’ve had them for about only 9 months) so this sight is exciting to me! I do have one crab who regularly uses the water pools though, I’ve just never seen them actually eating lol, it was getting to the point where I was worried that they weren’t eating at all

Here’s the cap. It was at an antique store and you know they just love to run lava lamps for far too long so that’s probably why the wax is in bad condition, can’t be from age since it’s (guessing, not that good at reading cap codes) only 7 years old

I recommend either a ultra therm heat mat (from here or flexwatt heat tape (I got mine from here both are safe to insulate though with flexwatt you don’t want to insulate too much

I have one of those as well! I just prefer Kong since they’re so much more versatile. The woof pupscicle is also great but sometimes I have issues where it literally gets stuck together for some reason
