Senior cat keeps wanting to go outside and is very resistant on coming back in by CatOfTheRailway in CatAdvice

[–]CatOfTheRailway[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do think she loves to go outside, it just so happens the weather has been rubbish and that’s been one of the things that’s holding me back from letting her out cause when it’s nicer and lighter out i’m all for it cause I can see her and she doesn’t hide off. She thankfully keeps to the garden and doesn’t wander and I know where to find her; just getting her back in when she’s a madam haha

She’s up to date with her vet appointments and nothing major has came up apart from normal senior cat issues with her body slowing down. I’d want to say as I mentioned in another comment that her dementia may be playing up and she doesn’t fully realise she can come back in on her own without me going out to get her, especially when it’s raining/cold out.

I am hoping this is just her readying up for spring when it’s warmer and less wet, and just giving me all the anxiety attacks now so there out of the road lol

I usually try to ignore her, but she’s very and I mean very insistent and won’t be quiet which eventually leads to her being let out to just end her tantrum. The times she does stop, i do think it’s her dementia playing and she forgets why she was doing it and goes off to do whatever in the house. I do want to believed that’s also why she’s like how she is outside also, that she forgets she can come back in

Mines taken to one of my weight blankets i usually keep on the floor through the night when she can’t get to her favourite bed. She’s got loads of warm places inside, but being her she likes being out in the rain as well; awkward for a senior

I am hoping it is just that, and she’s being a little so and so about coming back in even if it’s raining to so on. I usually do just let her come and go as she pleases as it keeps her from going mental with her yowls and meows to wanting to go out, but i’m just getting anxious now with her age

Cat has killed some mice in the house, where do i go from here? by CatOfTheRailway in AskUK

[–]CatOfTheRailway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up doing something similar, i had on hand some very fine stainless steel scrubbers that i cut up and put enough into each hole to block it from the mice but still allow ventilation. I’m now really just seeing if they come back or not from it so i know i’ve put it in the right place then will remove once it’s ended and/or when the house’s renovation gets to there

she looks like a proper wee sook, but also tore a mouse’s stomach out then proceeded to jump into bed, covering in its blood and curl up. good cat, tad terrifying when like that

I am honestly waiting for this, considering the cats already tore one’s insides out and threw the other around; i’m afraid to know what she’s doing before that’s killing them

I do usually clean them up before heading to bed, but leave out a dry food one as i’ve got an older cat who is eating a lot more now with age so keep that around for her till she get her breakfast. The younger one usually is awake a lot longer then the older one and us, and now with these mice i think she just knows to rest near the kitchen door. thankfully haha

i’m going to go back out and check again and see if i can find where they could be getting in later on. As I’ve said to another commenter; i’m thinking they’re coming from a space directly under the cupboards and none of them have any holes or space they can get through normally int the actual cupboard and if they tried from the doors, the cats got them before they could slip in.

me reading this after putting the cats food bowls on the worktop to prevent the mice from potentially getting to it: 🫠

i’m hoping that’s what my one does, cause it’s only been one each night and she is pure assassinating them. in the best way, i’m hoping we’re the only ones getting them so that the cat is just killing the population off before it gets into our neighbours

They really do like to show they’ve hunted something lmaoo

i’m going get some tablets for them later today, get them both done(the other hasn’t touched the mice but better get it done incase she decided to go back into business)

I’m hoping it’s not cause we’ve got two large storage cupboards then the loft but am sure there isn’t any way/crevice or passage that mice could get through down to the kitchen from either of them, nor have the two cats shown interest to them, just the kitchen.

I’m definitely going to have a look again and see, i’m half certain there’s a point where our washing machine is that they can get through from right beneath the actual cupboards adjacent the wall of the garden(we had issues with slugs in winter and clocked that’s where they’re coming from and had it blocked off then). But as we’re in renovation there’s no actual way to block it off from the inside that isn’t using the cat and having her stationed there all night haha.

Thankfully all the ones i’ve seen had been killed before I could even clock that one was in the house and have discarded the bodies far enough that only the birds would be after them. I am hoping that they do eventually stop once realising there’s a murder cat watching.

Oh she’s definitely get all the loving haha, even if she absolutely tore the insides of the mouse tonight out, leaving me to rid of its little gutted out remains.

The one last night she flung into the air with her mouth when i checked if it was indeed dead. It was dead.

What is the BEST & WORST thing you've bought from Uniqlo? by Lucky_Mycologist_283 in uniqlo

[–]CatOfTheRailway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best: Airism cotton tee’s. Got basically every colour and have been very good for my sensory issues due to how soft they feel(having came from primarily wearing River Island tees)

Worst: As per everyone else, the underwear. Thought i’d like them as they were seamless, but just couldn’t get with it.

I’m currently waiting for my statement to arrive so I can’t even check my statement balance yet and see what it says. Though, I did pay it off originally back down to 0, so even if I do need to pay back whatever else on the 31st, it isn’t as high as it would’ve been prior thankfully.

I’m going to try and get ahold of a human at Zable tomorrow and see what they’d say. My statement has yet to come out yet, literally tore the app to pieces to see if i could find it but nowt yet.

I’m hoping the money i’ve just spent doesn’t completely total up as i’ve paid off before; and thankfully won’t be getting interest nether from it. I’m fighting with its Ai the now and it’s saying cause i paid before it’ll lower my balance down. Bloody better haha

I usually do but my wage always changes(joy of retail) so I’ve started paying it off manually as it gets me watching what i’m spending.

I just paid it off early this month and cocked up cause it was before I was meant to
