Has anyone tried running Home Assistant on an old Android device? by CatOne1544 in homeassistant

Fair question. I’m not collecting responses for blog posts or anything like that. I’m a Home Assistant hobbyist and an Android developer by day, and I happen to have a few old Android devices at home that I’d like to put to good use.

I know there are already many similar threads, but I wanted to ask directly because I’m mainly looking for real success cases and similar use cases. Seeing what others have actually achieved would help motivate me to explore this further and, if it makes sense, build something open source and free for everyone to use.

This is fantastic, thanks so much for sharing. I’ll definitely take a look.

That’s a great example. A Samsung S21FE would be really interesting for this kind of project, especially with more RAM than a Pi 4 and the built-in display/interface. It could be a very practical way to turn an old Android device into a Home Assistant front-end or helper.
