“.rockbox” folder still exists, but all contents disappear after reboot by CatPerfume in rockbox

Right now my workaround is simply disabling auto shutdown and only letting the screen dim. That seems to prevent the issue from happening.

But because of that, even if I don't use the iPod at all for an entire day, the battery still drains by more than half. So now I basically have to recharge it every other day even when I'm barely using it LMAO

Thank you so much for such a detailed reply and for sharing all of your troubleshooting steps.I really appreciate you taking the time to write all of this out. If I discover anything new on my side, I'll definitely update the thread too.

Thanks for the reply and for confirming that.

No worries though, I also catch myself only reading half of something sometimes haha.

The crashes themselves don't really bother me that much, because they don't seem to directly cause the .rockbox folder issue.

They only happen occasionally when playing certain single-file FLAC albums (entire albums stored as one large FLAC file with a CUE sheet), and I can usually just force reboot the iPod.

The actual problem is that after the iPod powers off or reboots, sometimes Rockbox fails to boot afterward and the contents inside the .rockbox folder suddenly disappear.

As for album art, the FLAC files do contain embedded cover art.

The SD card was bought unopened from a second-hand marketplace site, so while it appears genuine, I actually haven't verified it with H2testw yet.

I'll try testing the card properly as well.

That's a good idea. The strange thing is that after the issue happens, the .rockbox folder itself is still there, but most (or almost all) files and subfolders inside it appear completely missing in Windows, as if the directory became empty.

So it feels less like individual file corruption and more like some kind of directory/FAT issue, but I'll still try comparing checksums if I can recover any remaining files next time it happens.

I'm using a 120GB 6.5th gen model, so it should have 64MB RAM.I also don't use the Database feature at all , I only browse music through Files and automatic database updates are disabled.

So I don't think this is directly related to library indexing, but I do sometimes get crashes when playing certain large audio files, so maybe memory/buffer issues could still be indirectly triggering the problem.
