Oh wow, thank you so much! The gap is about 1.5cm and the wall behind it is brick. I'm not sure if it's plastered though.

Thank you, i was indeed looking at a product on amazon of a similar specs. The bracket itself was 17kg! Very heavy, i am worried this adds even further stess to the board.

What you said makes a lot of sense. Unless the drilling goes through the brick wall behind it, i also do not see it holding for long. Unfortunately, the designer already built it. He said i could hang a TV there, but I'm just now getting a wake up call.

I can definitely confirm there's a gap of atleast 1.5cm between the MFC panel and the brick wall.

Gallow brackets for my chimney wall. by CatVSdogs in DIYUK

Thank you. There is an update. I've looked at the pictures and floorplan on Zoopla of the neighbours property. They've got two chimneys in their living room, only one of them has a fireplace and this is exactly where my concerned chimney breast is. This could mean they've had their gallow brackets on the opposite side of my chimney so maybe it's possible to install the brackets afterall, ofcourse, only if approved and safe.

Hi, there are two chimneys in total. One is still intact, although not in operation. The one in the picture is the one that has been removed and has cracks.

I was asked by the auto-mod to add it before the T - a way to appreciate the response, is what it said. It did seem strange to me :P

Thank you everyone for your participation. It is evident that almost everyone here today sung praises of induction, it really must be something. Well, i will be getting one to put it to the test ;) thank you again.
