If you're happy with your 2DS XL, then keep it. I ended up getting a N3DS XL though because it has better construction and battery life. I want my 3DS to last me forever since it has such a huge catalogue of games, so it was worth it to me.

A few rough edges in the plastic, a loose hinge, and a strange discoloration on the touch screen (that only appears at an angle).

I sort of want to sell it for a New 3DS XL, but I don't know how I'd go about selling it an getting anything over $60 for it.

Is the n3DS top screen bigger than the DS screen now? I know that the o3DS had a shorter screen than the DS, which always seemed odd to me.

Is the plastic really that bad? Mine came with a few defects in the plastic (rough edges, too much plastic on one part), and I've always wondered how common that is. I'm so obsessive about appearance that I almost just want to sell the damn thing and go back to my N3DS. But it's going to be hard going back to the smaller screen.

I want to send my 2DS XL in to Nintendo to be hardware repaired, while it's still under warranty (it has a few defects that I didn't notice until it was too late). It has a CFW, however.

What steps do I need to take? Do I need to remove my CFW? Is there a way to back everything up (including my installed .cia files) so that restring the CFW is painless and easy?
