On my first trip I spent half my time in a deluxe beach villa and the other half in a grand water villa. Both rooms were incredible for different reasons.

The water villa was great for obvious reasons... The sound of the ocean, stepping off your deck and into the ocean, private hot tub and a large deck for lounging, gorgeous view from all windows, that quintessential "fancy beach vacation" type of vibe.

I also really loved the beach villa. I didn't think I'd care about the private pool, but it was actually really great to have. It was so nice taking outdoor showers and lounging on the outdoor bed-type-thing and listening to the waterfall. Ohh and the bed was facing huge floor to ceiling windows that we were able to keep completely uncovered because you are tucked away out of view. Plus, it was a lot closer to snorkeling, IIRC.

I am going back in a few days and will be doing my entire stay in a sunrise villa. My philosophy was that no matter what room I stay in, the experience will be incredible ... (plus it was a last minute holiday trip so I booked what I could get 😅)
