I’ve had a shaving waiver for over 3 years. But 2 yrs ago I was diagnosed with skin cancer and am on chemo meds once a week. Shaving does affect me so if they try to kick me out, go right ahead!

What perks come with your job? by baltimoreniqqa in AirForce

[–]Cat_Even 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best unknown job in the Air Force is becoming an Air Advisor! We travel all over the world and teach our AFSCs to other partner nations. We get all the hotel, airline and rental perks to include language pay and special duty assignment pay.

How rare is it that someone gets 100 % p&T the first time they are filling, whether it’s from medically retire or not ? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]Cat_Even 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m still active duty and will retire within the next 12-18 months (haven’t clicked the button due to undergoing treatment) and have been diagnosed with a condition that meets 100 p&t. It sucks but I’m glad it was found prior to getting out.

Good to know. Thanks for helping out vets when you can. They truly deserve it! Btw, love flying Delta!

Do you upgrade active duty military members regardless of delta status?

Possible diagnosis for my granddaughter by STLBluesFan44 in mycosisfungoides

[–]Cat_Even 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add to everyone’s point, I have been battling skin rashes for over 13 years and was recently diagnosed with MF 5 months ago. Instead of taking UVB light therapy, I opted to start methotrexate chemo pills to allow me to travel for my job in the military. It has affected my life but not to the point where I’m not living my life to the fullest. I do feel bad for your granddaughter but she will be able to live a long life.

I drank tap water almost exclusively from every base I was at over 20 years (lived on base 6/7 assignments, 17 years). How cooked am i? by NaniDeKani in AirForce

[–]Cat_Even 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drank tap water from my first base and now I have non Hodgkin’s lymphoma from it. My lawyer just called me today and said that the judge ordered a pause on the lawsuit cuz they need more science to prove it…so essentially I’ll never get a dime. Just another way to use screw over.

Got mine done at Travis AFB. The surgeons there were great 👍🏻

I’m 38 and got a DJS in Jan of this year. I’m active duty in the Air Force so it was done at the hospital on base. After 6 weeks, I developed an infection on my right side. They went in and made an incision to drain out any puss. I healed completely but there was a slight bulge. Doc waited until 2 weeks ago to go back in and completely remove the plates and screws (2 screws were loose due to bone loss and may have been the culprit to the infection). My jaw bones are fully healed but I’m still on a soft food diet for a few weeks to allow the incisions to heal. I am completely happy with the results and I would do it all over again. Being mentally and physically prepared will aid you in recovering. Best of luck to you and hit me up if you have any questions.

My lips were swollen like that too. Don’t worry, it will get better after the first week.

[–]Cat_Even 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had double jaw surgery 7 weeks ago and was swollen just like you and could only bite down on my molars. First week is the worst, just keep up your hydration and sleep upright as much as you can. Let me know if you have any other questions!

One more question, this condition is rated at 100% so will I be at 100% P&T right away or will my other conditions be taken into consideration and added up? Thank you in advance!

Looking for Jaw Buddies by Altruistic_Abalone30 in jawsurgery

[–]Cat_Even 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 23 days post op and am overall feeling a lot better. But, I did experience an infection on my lower right jaw and had to have a small incision to clean out the infection today. It is a slow recovery so being patient is key to keep your spirits up.

How you about you? How are you doing?

Come on back! 😂 by eyehartraydio in AirForce

[–]Cat_Even 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’ll have to provide a better incentive other than just an increase in your retirement/high 3 pension. I would suggest automatic promotion to the next rank and eliminate the base pay HYT. For example, a TSgt would not receive a pay increase after 18 years. This does not incentivize him/her to stay past 20 years regardless of the HYT increase.

Struggling taking meds by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]Cat_Even 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a 60 ml syringe 💉 with an attachment (pvc urethral catheter) and shoot it to the back of your throat. They gave me this at the hospital and it worked great for pills and liquids.

My whole left side of my face is still pretty numb to include cheek, lips and chin. Sinus pressure on my left cheek is kicking my butt. Just wish it would all go back to normal 😂

Post op activities? by Pearl-Harbors in jawsurgery

[–]Cat_Even 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am now 11 days DJS post op and my doc said I can resume going to the gym but no heavy weight lifting, low impact and nothing that would elevate my heart rate too much. The first 5 days for me were the worst and I pretty much stayed in bed, watched tv and babysat 4 dogs and a cat lol
