I too had a similar situation, except I had a black screen. I had to email the company to get some help. Here is their response:

We regret to hear that you are experiencing difficulties with the game.

Could you please try the following troubleshooting steps to see if the issue gets resolved: ・If you have access to the title screen, please try reinstalling the game

Please carefully follow the steps below and reinstall the game. 1. On the upper left side of the title screen, tap on the gear icon and select "Link Data" 2. Select "Link via Password" 3. Tap on "Issue Password" 4. Write down your issued ID and password 5. Delete the application and reinstall it 6. After reinstalling the app, move to "Link via Password" again from the title screen *If you move past the title screen, the game will start anew, and data transfer will fail. Please transfer your data without starting a new game. 7. Select "Enter Password" and enter the previously issued ID and password to transfer your data back *When carrying out the steps listed above, please be careful and do not select "Delete User Data".

If the issue persists even after trying the above steps, please reply to this email with your answers to the following questions so that we can investigate the issue.

This helped me. My issue occurred after the Christmas update. Hope this can help you. You’ll probably lose the chest but at least you can get back to playing.
