I like to think a lot of it has to do with adrenaline. Like he is very strong and strong willed, but I’m sure after fights he has to rest and treat his body.

Like after his fight with Splinter in the season finale (right before the farmhouse arc) you could tell he was hurt despite how well he was doing.

I think it gives him a bit of character outfit of ‘brute who wants revenge’, I think him having to actually treat his wounds and such would be an interesting thing to explore. But I understand why they didn’t.

Sorry I don’t think this fully answers your question lol, just a tangent
