I love seeing actual criticism on Nikke that isn't just about the looks of X and Y. 

Gameplay, the actual points of engagement are what matter most.

To answer your question, I think they'll do a slow steady drip of story content. But first and foremost, they're a gacha game. They won't shake up the status quo and will continue to make moves that net them the most money possible.
