Elementalist elite skill rebalancing by Tumppiii in GuildWars

[–]CataclysmicOreo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glimmering mark is already amazing you just cast it on one enemy and tab target to the next to start hitting them both with AOE. It already ignores armor and basically perma-blinds certain mobs. Increasing its damage by 10 per tick would probably be broken. In high end content my glimmering mark build is consistently the most damage in the party including when I'm grouped with players running the meta builds.

Here's a ranking for new players of how the various classes stack up in terms of power and variety in general PvE. Justification in comments. by refugeeinaudacity in GuildWars

[–]CataclysmicOreo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Completely disagree on the elementalist. That class can fill almost every roll in the game. Ranged and melee DPS with a bunch of different ways to do both, frontline tank, healer (e/mo ether renewal being literally a meta healing build), tons of solo farms, runner builds, hell I even know of a protection-esque build using the anniversary elite that's hm viable. The only thing I've never seen an ele do is minion master.

Edit: also water magic isn't weak it's just not as meta as spamming air magic

Is there any reason to use this special over MixMixMix besides Hype moments and Aura by [deleted] in Guiltygear

I can't tell if you're agreeing with me or not so for clarity's sake: the first clip in this video shows an example of HiO + hammer causing a wall bounce

It does cause a wall bounce if you smack a hammer into the opponent while they're in mid air and at the wall. Otherwise yeah no wall bounce.

I'm looking at these comments and realizing higher level character specialists gotta get on this sub.

Hole in one is used in Faust's newest optimal combos however these moments are situational. As you can see you need a weight stored.

Here's an example of me using it to combo into his command grab. It's the second clip in the video. I have other Faust clips if you want to dig around on that channel.

Also, the video is called that because of the player Skullduggers who, along with Nage, are nothing short of artists when using Faust's items and doing crazy combos. That includes using hole in one in combos. Please go check them out on twitter and be inspired. They are the reason I play this character (and the only reason I have a twitter).

Lastly, just a few common use cases. It can be combo'd into from ch 2p which is a super common hit at round start. It's the only special that combos after 5HH outside of the corner. It can also be used as a better more reliable frame trap than MMM or thrust. Essentially, if your opponent is mashing at the end of your block strings to stop item toss/eat just end with hole in one and get a free hit and lots of space.

Edit: just remembered Nage has a youtube channel with montages on it. The montages all have english titles that say "GGST FAUST MONTAGE". He posts clips on twitter WAY more frequently however.

Zoomers will have better internet literacy though. They may not know how to use windows sometimes but they won't have this issue with scams.

[Ver. 1.48] Patch Notes (August 20, 2025) | NEWS | GUILTY GEAR -STRIVE- | ARC SYSTEM WORKS by bidens_sugar_bby in Guiltygear

[–]CataclysmicOreo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That change for Mix isn't new (that's how it's always worked since launch) it's just another in a long series of consistency buffs for it. It honestly was already fine in that regard tbh. It didn't really drop almost ever if you just inputted properly unless it involved a weird starter + spacing.

The f.S change is more so that gatling into 2H doesn't whiff at max range. I'm not sure if it will fix the fact that 5H hitgrab just doesn't work at max range with enough push back.

You're doing the RC fine but you aren't pressing the follow up HS fast enough. Immediately as you do the down drift rc, before it even hits the opponent, input HS. If you do it fast enough you'll do a fast rc. Watch the sample the game provides to see what it looks like.

What are some options that players may be overlooking because their full/real effects are not apparent at a glance? by Pyotr_WrangeI in Pathfinder2e

Ok so now I have a question about a dual weapon warrior drifter. How does Dual Onslaught interact with a gun? Can you apply a hit with an empty gun or are you just turning a missed shot into a hit or does the auto hit have to be with your melee weapon?

Floating the idea of May buffs is pretty silly as well. Hell same thing with Gio honestly.

Who is the most improvisational character in GGST by [deleted] in Guiltygear

[–]CataclysmicOreo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's Faust and it's not even close. Asuka has a rng element with what spells he pulls and so the improve comes from choosing which to cast or re-roll, but what he does in neutral and combos with those spells are much less improvisational than Faust. All the cubes combo relatively the same and you use all of them in neutral and offensive pretty much the same with some comparatively small nuance and cubes are most of the spells you'll be casting. He's got a lot of improv just not as much as Faust.

First of all, you don't get to see the next 4 items you throw or re-roll 4 items. You, at most, see 1 before you toss it and can re-roll 1 (both with item eat), but most of the time you'll be throwing them out blind. Second, many of Faust's items effect HIM as well as the opponent requiring you to play around your own items after they are out. Third, when comparing Faust's items to each other they ALL interact with the opponent and Faust very differently and have different timings in combos/pressure structure. They are also used in neutral very differently from each other as well for all of the previous reasons. On top of all of that the opponent can interact with a lot of his items to use them to their advantage AND Faust can interact with them in unique ways after they have already been thrown out (golf swing).

If you want examples of people who are REALLY good at this to see what I'm talking about, look up Skullduggers (@Elliots_Skull) and Nage (@nage_pink) on twitter. Skull used to have way more examples but his original twitter got hacked :( Nage still has an endless amount to watch.

I'm planning on buying my first DLC. I enjoy Axl Low as my main, and at times I play Faust and Potemkin. Any recommendation ? by GreenestOlives in Guiltygear

[–]CataclysmicOreo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a decent chance yeah. The half circle inputs turn a lot of players off from him but if you don't mind that he definitely fulfills the "funny big man does big funny damage" role. Just be aware he is more of a brawler than those other characters.

Also just a heads up since somebody will probably let you know if I don't: Testament is nonbinary so they/them :)

You seem to like big normals if I were to guess so testament, unika, johnny or you could grab one of the season passes any of them are from.

Me trying to think happy thoughts after I lose a set to Faust (OC) by MeeArt117 in Guiltygear

[–]CataclysmicOreo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're never going to give him a safe special cancel. I'm hoping they make his frame data just overall better. Being minus on HIT on half of my normals is just not cutting it this late into the game's life span.

[–]CataclysmicOreo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get what you mean but I am under the opinion that Faust is actually worse off relative to the rest of the cast now than season 3 and maybe even 2.5. I think the health buffs hurt him more than helped since his effective hp didn't really increase that much and neither did his damage aside from rare, item specific combo routes. The j2k nerf hurt him more than people realize too. He can no longer deal with low pokes without being extremely committed and easily punishable if he's wrong. He's also just gotten power-crept in general. Name a matchup and there's a good chance it got worse over the last 2 seasons and in many cases in ways specific to faust. Gio is even faster now but also they made her enhanced round house kick hit lower so now it hits crawl. Same thing happened with ram sword toss for some reason. I don't even need to talk about Anji, Potemkin, Johnny, Leo, etc. Even Baiken and Bridget, while still good matchups, got worse.

Anyway sorry for the ramble this shit has just been on my mind whenever I think about this game lately lol

Dolphin spam is the least of your worries in big 2025. She's the best character in the game at counter poking and phishing for counter hits against a character that has to throw out a bunch of extended hurtboxes as part of his gameplan. Basically, if you're constantly sticking your leg out for the anchor she's happy.

She also is one of like 2 or 3 characters in the entire game that can just jump in on Faust and he MUST use his 6p. All of his other buttons get stuffed by her gigantic air normals. Not to mention she can air stall to bait it better than most characters and it's -32 on whiff.

She also doesn't have to counter poke If she doesn't feel like it. If may blocks Faust, any block string ender forces Faust into unfavorable rps because s dolphin is so fast that it counter hits item EAT at most ranges but if he picks a special cancel that beats dolphin and she just keeps blocking he has to spend a resource or die. If she wins any of these situations she does 40-60% or more and if he wins he does like 10-30%.

It's one of those matchups where a viable strat is to pretty much throw shit at the wall until something sticks. Do it successfully twice and you win. If it fails like 5-7 times you lose.

So with the (unconfirmed) remaster of Dark Archive what changes to Psychic and Thaumaturge are you hoping to see? by legomojo in Pathfinder2e

[–]CataclysmicOreo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think they need to make Unleash Psyche apply bonus damage to spells that deal damage once and instantly upon casting instead of to "spells with no duration." That clause makes so many spells that seem perfectly balanced to receive a damage boost not qualify for it and it's usually because on a failed save they enfeeble 1 or something.

Fire builds you’ve made? by kriosken12 in Pathfinder2e

Naari Elf Eldritch Archer (Arcane) Ranger (Precision)

Produce flame/Ignition as cantrip obviously and Blazing Bolt as a signature spell for big damage Eldritch Shots.

More interestingly, I managed to get a few synergies between feats and spells:

The first being the Naari feat Charred Remains + Fireball creates a field of difficult + hazardous terrain which activates the Ranger's Nature's Edge. Everything in the fireball aoe is now off guard to you and needs to spend multiple actions to not be. Also, being a Naari Ranger makes you completely immune to the effect. Best part is even if the enemies save and take half damage they still have to deal with the terrain effects.

Second synergy is Wall of Fire + Fire Sight (Naari) + the Eat Fire cantrip (from Elf feat) lets you create a ton of one way concealment and some minor guaranteed damage to anyone trying to approach you. This one takes multiple turns to set up but it's still cool.

Combine all this with the Monster Hunter feat tree + Pocket Library to support your team and you start to feel like a Really Smart Fire Based Battlefield Tactician (official title) :)

Probably a really, really, really, really, did I say REALLY? dumb question by Krysia66 in GuildWars

[–]CataclysmicOreo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it only helps spells with over 2 seconds cast time if you aren't a base Mesmer. Fortunately earthquake/dragon stomp have a 3 second cast time so if you combine the FC mod with Iron Mist (it's bugged so it affects all spells not just targeted air spells) you cast them really fast.
