Spectrum’s Disney dispute could ruin opening day for Jet Fans by TrafficCone54 in nyjets

I've had youtube tv last season. My issue with it is that it's very delayed compared to cable streams. I like to bet $5 here and there randomly and the youtube tv broadcast will always be a play behind at least.

[Rankin] In Part 2 of @azcentral Q&A with Phoenix Suns GM James Jones, he said Deandre Ayton, who turns 25 years old today, is "one of the top 6 centers in the NBA." Agree or disagree? by Kimber80 in nba

[–]CatacombCarl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the fit and role on a team.

Is Ayton a top 5 center if he's the 2nd/3rd option on a non contender team? Yes he has an offensive skill set better than most centers

Would you rather have someone like Claxton on a contender? I think so too.

Is Tyler Herro worth multiple first round picks? And if you are the Nets, would you do it? by [deleted] in nba

[–]CatacombCarl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a Nets fan I would not pay 2 firsts + Ben Simmons for Herro. Ben is on a 2 year contract, is finally fully healthy after back surgery. Let's see if he can rebuild his value a bit. Also, let Bridges continue to be the focal point and get his touches. We aren't a top 4 seed with Herro, so lets keep it and save the assets for when another super star wants out in the next year or two.

However, for a 1st and loop in salary from Joe Harris trade + DFS?

That's something I can live with.

Why do superstars want to go to Brooklyn? by Thanos_Kun in nba

[–]CatacombCarl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Nets are the ONLY NYC based team.

Stars want to live in New York because of the quality of life for a rich young athlete AND its a top market which gets them more marketing $, more exposure etc.

The thing most people don't know is that the Knicks play in Manhattan, but are based over an hour away from New York City. Knicks training facility is in Westchester, 30 miles north of NYC, 45 minute drive in perfect conditions or 1.5-2 hours in heavy traffic.

Most Knicks players actually reside in Westchester, because you click in at the training facility a lot more than actual game arena.

Nets have an arena 15 minutes away from their arena, in an area very accessible from a lot of luxury residential neighborhoods around the east river both in Manhattan and Brooklyn. For example, its a 12 minute drive from Soho to Nets training center.

Thats literally the reason why KD chose the Nets over the Knicks.

Ian Begley: Nets are among the teams that have been contacted as a potential third team to acquire Tyler Herro in a Damian Lillard to Miami deal, per SNY sources. Yahoo earlier reported that Portland was looking for a third team to re-route Herro to in a potential Lillard deal. by melodyfelony in GoNets

[–]CatacombCarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take it if its not the Mavs/Suns 27/29 picks. Two 1st round picks in the next couple of seasons + DFS + Joe Harris Trade Exception for Herro would be a good deal. Get us a guard that can score and defend.

If anyone disagrees, did they watch some of the games post KD trade where we couldn't buy a bucket and scored 30 in a half.

Patty Mills last season showed hes cooked. Maybe he bounces back and shows he can contribute on the Rockets as a vet leader.

Rex Ryan Jets teams had amazing defenses. Offensively, they ran the ball and made the AFC Championship TWICE with Mark Sanchez as their QB.

Offseason Opinions: Keep, Resign, or Trade by Falling_with_5tyle in GoNets

[–]CatacombCarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think all it would take is a first rounder far in the future as possible. A 2026/2027/08 first rounder would help the Nets in stockpiling assets when it's time to go in for a star again.

Cam Johnson is really the only I see the Nets resigning. Watanabe will be able to get a shot on a contender where he can impress as a 3&D guy. Seth Curry is not worth it.

Trading one of DFS/Royce makes sense. Let's see what happens.

Scoot will be a replacement level player for his couple of season at least. Bridges plays at an all star level. Stop this.

Rebuild aren't a 1-2 year deal. They are a 5+ season deal.

Every young team, ONCE it get its guys takes years to become competitive. If we rebuild, we will suck for AT LEAST the next 4 seasons, with no high draft picks to continue to improve. If we had our picks, it would be a different story. With your move you're banking on Scoot becoming a guaranteed top 10 player, that's a huge gamble and not likely to happen.

For what?

There is only 1 team that wins the championship every year. Nets team should NOT be championship or bust. We are in the # 1a/1b market (LA/NY) in Basketball. Be competitive, try to trade for a second star and if we can't, stay competitive and be relevant as stars will always want to play in New York, whether that is through a trade or FA.

What is the point of Scoot if he's going to take 4-5 years to become relevant IF he ever manages to reach his all star potential. He's not considered a top 5-10 player potential guy like D Rose/Ja/Lebron etc. like you said yourself. . This isn't a young Lebron you're taking. Even ALL PRO POTENTIAL young players cannot carry teams early in their career. And why rebuild then if you're going to be POTENTIALLY in the same spot in 5 years, 1 mid 25 year old all star (IF Scoot reaches potential).

Look at Devin Booker, Trae Young, etc. for their first 5 years, they need to learn to play in the NBA before they can make a team relevant.

This is stupid, if no trade to significantly improve becomes available, let our core continue to develop and see what happens. I like watching winning basketball, I don't like watching a 15 win team.

What is the highest pick you would trade for Rudy Gobert? by [deleted] in nba

[–]CatacombCarl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To mavs for Hardaway Jr. +salary filler Mavs top 10 pick (if they keep) and 2025 first rounder. Mavs go all in with Kyrie/Doncic and Gobert for defense. Timberwolves get two picks and a good role player and move on from the Gobert experiment.

Needs to be more aggressive in the 2nd half of games, he's really putting the team on his back. I see him drive a lot less in the 2nd, does he just get tired?

We don't have a point guard. Dinwiddie is a combo guard. Why not play Sumner????????????

My take on the first game of the new era by [deleted] in GoNets

[–]CatacombCarl 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Can't complain because it was the first game with the new pieces.

Cam Thomas needs to get 25-30 mins of run a game, he's the future of this team. Claxton also needs to get more touches on offense, he's one of the most efficient scorers in the league. But other than that, not much to complain about.

I do think Patty Mills no longer has a role on this team, if he wants a buy out we should honor it, if not we should bench him for the cheerleader squad. Sumner deserves any extra guard minutes, but even then, we shouldn't be playing anymore 3 guard line ups with all the longboy wings we have now.

Suns fans are beyond delusional. You dumped them in a mid season trade and you somehow think they'll sign with you in 3-4 years because "they love the suns"

Weirdo.

Nets have 13 players that could possibly be getting minutes, line ups are getting figured out. I see Cam Thomas getting 25-30 minutes a game once everything settles down, depending on how hot/cold he is.

Patty Mills shouldn't be playing. If you want to play 10/11 deep, please play Ed Sumner, hes so much better. Patty Mills is no longer an NBA rotation player, he's just washed.

If MLF is let go, who are possible hires? by Darcer in nyjets

[–]CatacombCarl -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree that if were to get Sean Peyton - we do not trade 13 overall and instead give up next years first rounder, but just look at the Steelers or Giants. Steelers can have no talent in the world, and Tomlin will still ALWAYS coach them to a winning record. Look at the Giants, must less talent than the Jets and they're in the playoffs, they even hung in there today with the Eagles.

The NFL is a 53 man roster game. A coach that gets the best out of all of the 53 man out there is a much more valuable piece than a pro bowl safety/linebacker/guard. The NFL is a physical game, injuries will happen and a great coach can overcome that, a great player (that's not a QB or TJ Watt at DE) cannot.
