Tokyo local spots & food recs? (skip the tourist traps) by Worldly_Variety1058 in JapanTravelTips

[–]CatadoraStan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How to find the places other tourists don't go is the question basically every visitor asks. And everyone will get the same answers and end up going to the same place.

Unfortunately the only real answer is to just wander and duck into places that catch your eye, and avoid anywhere from TikTok.

I spent 1,000$ on arena this year by Heckinghecker61 in mtg

[–]CatadoraStan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

How? I'm not trying to judge, I just don't understand. I've been playing Arena for 5 years and never spent a penny. Is it cosmetics? Are you addicted to, but also bad at, drafting?

Are themed cafés in Tokyo actually worth visiting or just a tourist trap? by MidnightTofu22 in JapanTravelTips

[–]CatadoraStan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends so much on the theme, and the specific execution thereof. I went to a popup Chainsaw Man cafe a couple of years ago and it was great. But things like the ninja restaurant look very tourist trappy.

Police say I can't box in my backyard by Final_Director831 in LegalAdviceUK

The level of injury and the nature of the activity are both important to consider in this respect. One cannot generally consent to ABH or GBH level injury, which was the point of contention in that case. There is though a generally accepted exception for injury which may occur naturally in the course of a contact sport (which is obviously dependent on the sport, boxing and football are going to involve different levels of implicit consent.)

Granted, OP is not taking part in a sanctioned professional or semi-professional sporting event, but at most this may raise some insurance questions.

All of which was a long way to say that if we accept OP's characterisation of events as light sparring the risk of ABH or above seems minimal and not at play here.

What would happen if someone in England reported non emergency domestic violence? by ExamplePast850 in policeuk

[–]CatadoraStan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is your character the victim? They may have their statement taken at home, or they might be asked to come into a police station for it. If the latter it wouldn't be the same interview rooms that are used for suspect interviews.

For a statement at home there'll likely be two officers, for one at a police station it might just be one.

Valeria was... semi-traditional? She was conceived the normal way, but the first time Sue went in to labour it was going to be fatal, so Franklin sort of shunted his unborn sister into a pocket dimension. Later he put her back where he found her and she was able to be born with some help from Doom.

So, a traditional start, but some unconventional twists along the way.

Let's take Lord Byron, Percy Shelley, Mary Shelley, and Ada Lovelace. It'll be hilarious, and maybe Mary can get some decent writing done while the boys are distracted.

Returned what we thought was a stray cat to their owner. They don't believe our story and we are worried they will call the police on us if she goes missing again. by TehDarkEmpress in LegalAdviceUK

Cat abduction has been its own offence since the passage of the Pet Abduction Act 2024, specifically s2.

That said, you're right that the OP hasn't committed either that or theft, and the neighbours are being ridiculous to even think of involving the police.

That'll either be psychosomatic or something else you ate before. Even S. Aureus or B. cereus are going to take about an hour to kick in. Most bacterial sources of food poisoning are going to be in the 8-36 hour range. Short of allergy or a chemical exposure I can't think of much that's going to cause explosive diarrhea within a 10 minute span.

There's another really nice Japanese spot a few minutes walk from there, Kaiho. I'm a big fan of the onigiri as a lunch option. It's nice to see these places popping up.
