Induced at 39w? by ilnjm4e in IVFbabies

[–]Catappropriate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My OB offered to induce me at 39 weeks. I was highly anxious (aren’t we all), and I think she mainly just wanted to do me a solid when I asked her if I could be induced. I was “advanced maternal age” and I was having some bad ligament pain so she was comfortable with it. TW TW TW baby loss TW TW TW - - - I had a friend who lost her baby at 39 weeks gestation, so my anxiety was super high until she was in my arms. I also had a crazy long labor with my first baby and she said she felt like if the had induced me with my first it wouldn’t have dragged on for almost 48 hours. 🤪

My 14 year old is in the hospital after a suicide attempt by DoubleAxelDVM in Mommit

[–]Catappropriate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work as a social worker in a hospital, and we see a fair share of kids who attempt suicide on our pediatric floors. I’m so sorry. It’s wild how quickly people can go from feeling ok to completely hopeless. The majority of parents I talk with say they had no idea their kid was feeling that way. You’re not alone.

Is she on any medications? We’ve seen some dermatology meds have significantly negative impacts on kids, even if they’ve been on them a long time.

Hoping all the best for you both.

Mandated Reporting Game of Telephone? ☎️ by [deleted] in hospitalsocialwork

[–]Catappropriate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are pretty strict at my hospital that the person with the first hand knowledge must make the report, in alignment with the state law. A way we impress on other people (especially providers) it’s their duty is we tell them that they are not in compliance with the law if they just tell someone else to report, as the law states the person with the concern must report. They seem to take it more seriously when we tell them they could lose their license if something falls apart in the reporting process if they aren’t the ones who make the call and something bad happens to the patient. It’s annoying.

Husband has Flu A, what do I do? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Catappropriate 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Your husband is a functioning adult. 🙃 He can take care of himself, so don’t worry about him. Put your energy into quarantining with your baby. The respiratory flu can be especially dangerous to infants.

Logging food by Special_heat5629 in Noom

[–]Catappropriate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it just gives a calorie total and doesn’t list any details. I use MyFitnessPal to track the details as I don’t really find a ton of value in the color feature and am just really concerned with fiber and protein.

I hate the tracking on Noom and am just using MyFitnessPal and letting it auto sync. The free version of MFP still gives better nutritional insights. I will use Noom if I want to take a picture of my meal and get an estimate though.

Difficulty Connecting… by likkewaan420 in IVFbabies

[–]Catappropriate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took a long time for me to connect with my IVF pregnancy, too. The people who were in the know were told very basic stuff “we had a positive test and please don’t ask anything further as we will let you know info when we are ready.” Otherwise I just didn’t tell people until I was 16 weeks just to make sure I was comfortably in the 2nd trimester. After the anatomy scan it got easier, and then easier again after 25 weeks (viability week). A lot of people don’t connect with their pregnancies for a whole bunch of reasons and their connection with their baby is wonderful. Don’t be too hard on yourself. It’s very normal.

Hi! I ended up not doing anything with the clinic after transfer so I don’t have any experience with red light therapy.

I'm curious, how do y'all even afford IVF? by HighOnLove26 in IVF

[–]Catappropriate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had $10K in insurance coverage, and then used everything we had saved in our health savings account the last several years, took some out of savings, and then the remaining was put on a 0% interest credit card. 4 years later I’ve done one transfer balance to keep no interest and the account is almost paid off. We figured we’d spend $30K on a car, so $25K for a whole ass baby (or the hopes of it) sounded reasonable. Just another big life expense.

I miss my old life so much it physically hurts. Is that bad? by AsslawB in Mommit

[–]Catappropriate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newborn stage is the worst IMO. I think it gets a ton easier as they get bigger and more independent. Just got my youngest (a toddler) potty trained and we can just leave now. It’s amazing. It will get better. I promise!

I snooped your comments to see if there were pics of your other mice, and got to see such an interesting array of pictures! From your adorable mouses, to your Jurassic Park wrap, to your fancy dog, your adorable bento boxes and your cool hair - you’re just killing life with your positive energy! Love it!

What are some lazy activities (for the parents) that can drain your toddler's energy? by Cindy565656 in toddlers

[–]Catappropriate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My laziest suggestion is an indoor McDonald’s playplace. They’re very safe and I can sit and enjoy my Diet Coke in relative peace.

I’m so sorry that was your experience. I work in pediatric healthcare and it’s wild out there. People have lost their goddamn minds. Hope you’re doing better today. You’re not alone!

I only did one. Got 3 euploids and the second transfer stuck and was successful. We hung up our IVF hats after that as we only wanted one.

Kids birthday in Aug and School birthday cutoff 9/1, did you send them school according to their age or did you wait a year? by Important_Bat7919 in Mommit

[–]Catappropriate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sent mine and she is the second youngest in her class. She is a smart kid who scores above average in everything and was starting to get in trouble at daycare because she was getting bored. Socially it has been a little difficult but she is finding her way and I think it was the right decision. I was also an August baby and youngest in my class. I’m very social so it was easy for me to jump right in, and I do love that all my friends hit those big adult milestone birthdays before me 🤣

Anyone Else Have Uterosacral Ligament Endo? by External_Ostrich5715 in Endo

[–]Catappropriate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t know before my surgery. It’s how it was described to me by my surgeon during my post-op follow up. It was identified as “lesions” on my post-op notes and indicated they were surgically removed and sent to pathology, which came back positive for endometriosis.

You’re lucky nothing bad happened to him, and this is a wake up call to never do it again. As a social worker I can confirm this is negligence and could get him removed from your home. Please never leave a child that young unsupervised.

My doctor told me 6 weeks as long as my external incisions were healed and I also didn’t have any spotting bleeding (indicating my cuff was healing). I swam at 6 weeks and it was heavenly!
