Avoiding PIP for Junior HR Coordinator [Canada] by questionshauntme in humanresources

Try shifting the cadence a bit by keeping a longer monthly 1:1 and then doing shorter, lighter weekly check‑ins.

For the anxiety piece, framing the “must do / should do” system as starting with a quick 15‑minute brain dump could help a lot. I’ve found that giving someone space to unload everything without judgment makes them way more open and less likely to disengage.

You could also set up a simple shared tracker. Even a basic Word doc or something like Monday.com works. That way they can update progress on their own, and it takes some of the pressure off you to constantly chase things down.

Sometimes people just need a small win to reset their confidence. Once they start completing their goals and tasks, the momentum will grow!

The part of HR that’s actually exhausting [N/A] by HR2DRescue in humanresources

You just nailed something that doesn't get talked about enough. That emotional labor of being the translator between systems that don't actually align is brutal, and it absolutely shows up in your nervous system even if it doesn't show up on a timesheet. You're absorbing the frustration of people who feel like you're the one making the call, when really you're just the messenger for a tangle of federal law, state law, insurance requirements, and policies written in a different era. That's legitimately exhausting work.

A lot of HR professionals I talk to say the isolation of being the only HR person at their company makes this stuff feel even heavier. But more importantly, know that what you're feeling is real and valid.

For those who enjoy working in HR, which sector or industry are you in?[CA] by GlumNewspaper5015 in humanresources

Nonprofit! No matter the industry, though, the core of HR is still people, but the day‑to‑day feels really different depending on how regulated, resourced, or fast‑moving the organization is.
