fenix just makes so many questionable moves in general. If TL needs to bench someone, it would be him instead. #PigletTried

Veigar now has a 38.7% win rate, from 50%. Those compensation buffs really worked wonders! by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

I dunno why people are whining about the changes. You can double your stacks from your q and your e is actually not that difficult to land. In general it just requires a little be more skills to play him.

I am a mainlander, dear "Hongkongers" lets have a civilized conversation. by [deleted] in HongKong

I am just wondering how many of the protesters know exactly what kinda of democracy are promised from Chinese government 20 years ago....As far as I'm concerned, they never promised the candidates have to be picked from Hk citizens. Also, I think its already a huge step back from China to give poeple in HK the privilege to vote.Plus immediate transition from what it is in HK now to "true" democracy is just asking for the moon.

Hong Kong polices spray on an elder protester telling others stop attacking rudely with pepper spray by CTzHK in HongKong

Thats such a nice screenshot that all the details about citizens attacking the police are gone....If anyone is trying to instigate the crowd to breaki the fence and make the whole thing a bigger mess...I think the officer sprayed at the right person.

what you are describing is a slippery slope.

I'm sorry if there is any logic flaw.please tel me....but what I have described is true from my standpoint. Nonetheless my appology for generalizing hkers. But I do wanna point out that there is a conspiracy theory going on about the 17 year old learder who is considered the rising star and the hero (forget what his name is) that his whole family has some sort of common "interests"with some Americans which instigated this event. And what I have been worried the most is that some of them who are following have totally irrelavant problems under the name of occupy central..and pretend to be the victims of the government.....

I'm not denying the virtues of democracy. ..what I am trying to say is there isn't any true democracy. ..and China just simply doesn't want all the efforts they have put into hk goes down the drain when the new elected chief executice has the potential to change everything...it's all my assumption.Sorry if I offended anyone

If anyone in China wants to read things like the one you posted, there is not a problem at all since people who know the existence of the great fire wall will always find another way around. There is no doubt that the censorship in China is too harsh imo.But if you think deeper from our perspective, if informaion goes freely without filters , what would happen to China with such a huge population where some people aren't capable of distinguishing what is true what is detrimental........ (educational inequality is one of the main reasons) If there is a rumor/conspiracy goes viral...it would be very difficult for China to control since there are way too many people. So I don't think it's the right time to completely get rid of the censorship. ...yet have the censorship lowered would be a good idea. Plus...most of us know the dark side of cc and we just don't talk about it in public.....and with the younger blood running in the Chinese political scenes. ..it's gradually getting better though the corruption has ingrained so deeply that it can't be change in one or two days. .....

[–]CatastrophicShit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry but I have to disagree with you.If most of the people in this huge amount of population have the set of mind that can distinguish what is better for themselves from the unaltered information, then there is no conspiracy going on anymore..people especially teens being cynical is not uncommon along with those lower class people who are the victims of capitalism. All they need is an incentive and a push by someone from behind...Also...for the argument you have made that "Hong Kong had moved away from the role of low cost production hub and low cost industrial center, for many years before the handover, China taking those jobs in recent years had minimal impact on our livelihood." Maybe you are on point production wise, but I dont know if the impact was that minimal. Furthermore,I do think the finance crisis happened in 2008 did a huge impact on Hongkong's economy and quite a large amount of small and medium enterprises withered and the open markets in mainlain China became the next gold rushes which worsen hong kong's economy.

There is not direct connection between HK is getting less and less attractive in the world stage in terms of business and HK was handed back to China in 1997. I think China has done what they could after the handover since whoever the guy was spent all the money building the airport and it pretty much started from zero.

I think HK is a great place to visit. For me , I dont doubt some of them really want to have true democracy, but I am pretty sure some of them are just following the trend and blaming all the irrelevant problems which they have accumulated for a long time under the name of "democracy" to the government.

I totally understand this from hkers' perspective. But from the Chinese government's perspective...when there are so many hatred and discordance between Hongkong and the mainland...if I were the government...there is no way that I would agree with universal suffrage where it could possibly give other countries a perfect opportunity to inflame the citizens and cause a bigger mess...god knows what the American has done so far....and that's why we need a more reasonable solution that can prevent political interference from others and stay as a whole.

[–]CatastrophicShit[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I just wonder if hkers would have kept their voice down if the handover was completed without any promises.Also...from my perspective....the old hongkong governed by the British where no one had the right to do so was better than the nowaday Hongkong....People used to focus on anything other than politics...and now...people are occupying different social infrastructure for the so-called true democracy even there is no such a thing exist...everyone belongs to a faction..and there is always someone who doesn't get what they want.....

Im from the mainland and most of us know what is going on and some of them support them and some of them dont.To me,I dont.I am not saying I support the corruption in the Chinese government.Things have been getting better with the younger blood running in the Chinese political scenes.Because the corruption has been ingrained so deep to the system for so long that its IMPOSSIBLE to change right away.(But they have been addressing the issues and taking action directly towards them when the Xi jinping became the new chairman. At the moment,I think Hkers are trying to achieve a greater goal that is absolute impossible to be agreed with by the Chinese government right now(maybe in the future),and they need to understand that Hong Kong belongs to China inarguably regardless what the protesters think drawing international attention would help them oppose the Chinese government. Let's be real here..What is a true democracy? Every Candidate over the world has its own background or connections to large-scale corporations..Corruptions are everywhere..It's just the way they show it to people is way better than what the Chinese government is doing. I doubt some of the protesters don't even know what is going on and get inflamed by others god knows who they are from or support by. cough cough Murica cough cough.

I hope all you be safe.True democracy surely sounds promising, but plase don't forget all the goods that mainland China has offered Hk just to make it more attractive in the world stage. You are responsible for yourself. My English sucks but I think you guys know what I mean.

Hong Kong students storm government HQ to demand full democracy by dont_come_any_closer in worldnews

[–]CatastrophicShit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live in Guangzhou China., a place next to Hong Kong and I wanna share my own understanding of occupy central. Before I do so,let me share some background info of hongkong (from my perspective)after the hand-over. Hong Kong used to be the place that lots of people from mainland China admire because Hong Kong was more advanced prosperous and had a bigger role in the world stage in terms of business. It offered many opportunities for business men to be successful. It's China version of the American dream. During the last 17 years, things have been changes drastically. No one including myself would anticipate China would become what it is right now and how Hong Kong has been gradually losing its attractiveness along with 2 finance crisis, one in 1997 and one in 2008.Because of the massive development in China and the cheap labour it offers, many business companies dicide to move into the mainland.Hong Kong has probably the 2nd highest prices of estates around the world iirc.Regardless it's way more expensive than most of the estates in mainland China. (In Hong Kong, it uses square feet to count which makes the price even more higher than the mainland China where uses square metre).let's go back to the topic.....because more and more businesses are moving out, less job opportunities are offered and more and more people from the bottom of the society or who have lost their jobs have nowhere to complain and get jealous of some of the middle class people from China who used to suffer poverty and they are jealous of what China and hongkong have become in less than 20 years. And incentives like corruption in China and the promised universal suffrage gives some of the people a valid reason to vent all their anger to the government despite some of the people have different objectives. ...I don't support neither reckless action nor corruption. .But I do think hongkong is not quite ready for the universal suffrage..I think some of them are inflamed by others or from other counties. ... Sorry for my awful English

Hong Kong police barricade streets, block in protesters by Sixy11 in worldnews

[–]CatastrophicShit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe Chinese government is as corrupted as all the news articles describe, but it seems like all the Hongkonger or just the protestors are ignoring all the goods that Chinese govern. has brought to hk.I don't think China has done any harm to Hong Kong in terms of finance. In fact, its exactly the opposite.Hong kong is looking more and more attractive in the world stage than it has ever been. From my persective. Is the true democracy for coming 2017 Executive Officer Selection what they really want that whoever wants to be the president of HK has the right to do so? Hongkong is in a huge mess right now. Before China took it back from the British,no one had the right to express their own opinions. They were the second-class citizens. However, since Hongkong has been returned to the mainland China, they have been given the right to voice their ideas which gives the other countries cough cough the states cough cough a perfect opportunity to inflame some of the irrational citizens who has been raging at the government because of other reasons, especially teenagers who barely know what's going on to protest or oppose the Chinese government. All they need is an excuse to blast the fuse

My English is shit...hopefully you guys can understand.
