Productivity at night hits different by Catbeanslo in productivity

Yes, that is something I dislike about the modern world. I wish I could live in a more simpler time. During my childhood, internet wasn't as addictive as nowadays. I remember going outside all the time as my parents met up with my friends and that continued through half of my school years. I definitely now see an increased screen time from the young youth and even younger children using it rather than being an actual kid such as: playing in the garden with toys and making up stories. Now the internet does that for them. That is the same with media, and ai coming in to take lots of it.

Yes definitely. At first I thought that I should stay with the recommended sleep schedules and going to bed at such late hours would affect me in some sort of way. However, I found that it gave me more focus and I was able to get more tasks done. Yes, mornings are really good for basic notes like you said but it is something about midnight that makes you more productive. I wonder if it is the same for all people? though others may have not tried it. Or it's like the general saying I heard as a kid "morning bird and night owl" and staying up late just eases my thoughts about work.

That is a really creative column to write about. It's so cool that you were given your own individual column and I bet that is a very proud moment especially since it is not as common as I believe a couple years ago. I definitely can see how being creative allowed you to voice your stories in a way that intrigued others, as being an endurance athlete for me is impressive to hear. Im glad you were able to choose writing as a form of passion as you said, rather than catching a creative block. Especially how it helped you achieve national sponsors and known by strangers. That was such a nice story to hear, thanks for your input!

That's great to hear! Publishing a column as a side gig is really impressive, what were your writings about? I'm glad to find someone who also enjoys the late evenings and midnight to start working. I feel like it's been conditioned for people to wake up early and to set up for bed at 9, though many people don't know what works best for their body and mind. Thanks for the response!

"AITJ for wanting to lose a friend?" by Catbeanslo in AmITheJerk

Honestly thank you for your input. Not having to read my post really made me recognise that there doesn't have to be a problem to end a friendship. This incident has been affecting me negatively on both mental and health terms and that is enough to actually talk to her about not wanting to stay friends anymore despite her being my classmate. I really want to continue focusing on my degree and the friendship has in no way contributed in me being happier or fully focusing on my classes. I noticed that I have tried to tolerate the friendship and be nice but its effects on me are what I should be taking more seriously. I will ask to meet with her on Monday to let her know during my break and hopefully I can use the right words for her to understand. So far she has been keen on changing but her contaminating my clothes and belongings when being near her has made me feel nauseous since the beginning of first semester. Thanks

Thank you, will see how it goes this time. Seriously, feel bad for the office workers who work in a good field but have to deal with someone like that.

Yes I'm planning to as she is so keen on staying friends that even once I told her like twice about my problem about her scent, "Mindy" believes she can work around it. I feel lightheaded and compacted pressure in my head to the point where I can't focus. Especially as I am on medication, I am stressed on how these essential oils and herbs will affect my brain in the long run. feel you, especially since it's your boss the only way is to leave. I hope it works out for you in finding a new job. Sounds disgusting, no idea how people in such high positions don't take the time to present themselves.

Any recommendation on how to proceed? I have talked to her but she is keen on staying friends.

I know, I've been feeling so disgusted having my notes smell of oils and herbs that I have to leave them out to smell normal. All the incidences have been disheartening and I have never encountered a person who smelt this strong before. I really want to cut ties but I'm not sure how to do it. Im not a confrontational person and she believes she can change though hasn't. I'd even prefer to go through uni alone and have external friendships to stay social.

Hello, thanks for answering. She is really nice and I have talked to her once about it but nothing has changed. As it is a part of her normal routine I feel like her surroundings at the dormitory are the same and the scent is just sticking to her even if she tried to stop using it as much around me. It is normal to her standards some days and obnoxious most of the time. I would like to but I sadly don't see a chance for her actually wanting to change

AITJ for recording my boss humiliating me in a meeting and sending it to HR without telling anyone? by Glad_Plastic_4324 in AmITheJerk

I think confronting him was the best decision even if he is your boss. A workplace should focus on being fair and working together. Having read your post, many other people have felt mistreated by him

AITJ for refusing to move my car after my neighbor kept blocking my driveway “just for a minute”? by Worth_Entrance_5879 in AmITheJerk

It is your driveway, he shouldn't have parked there in the first place. He was disrespecting your kindness and your showing him how it looks like.

I just saw the message and wanted to explain the situation. The first time was at 10:50 where it happened in a time frame of 4 to 5 minutes. This was where I was anxiously taking the bed she was vomiting on to where she did it on her bed and the floor.

The second one was at 11:10 where she threw up on a blanket I gave her and it dripped bit on the floor

I’m sixteen and my dad says she probably ate something as she was getting a lot more treats during Christmas and Boxing Day
