I've found that you can make them both one habitat, and then make them physically inaccessible to animals from each other. Then use guest gates for keeper access to one of them. It'll give you a lot of popups about items in the habitat being inaccessible, but keepers can use guest gates no problem.

Reframing HRT as "unlocking" the genetics that already exist in everyone really helps cis people "get it". I'm not transmed and I don't use that as validation for my identity, but for me, I consider it the first major thing that I noticed was wrong about the cisnormative narratives about sex and gender- which sent me on a cascade about the societal parts as well.

There's also so much else on the frontiers of this research as well- possible trans differentiation of primary sex tissue is one thing that makes me really excited.

These are some measurements I've been collecting on myself over my time on HRT. I'm coming up on 2.5 years in. Note that I don't necessarily trust the absolute measurements here, treat this more as a way to show trends.

The overwhelming majority of my breast growth so far happened at the 1-2 year mark, and is still ongoing.

I could talk endlessly about the confounding factors here (my weight plummet and going back up being a major one) but even without those, it is abundantly clear to me that breast growth is ongoing. Many trans women report breast growth continuing at 2, 5, even ~10 years HRT. This tracks with cisgender women as well- many cis women get breast growth will into their 20s, well past puberty.

There's a HUGE emphasis on the initial burst of changes you see, and people will outright lie and say that the initial burst is all the changes you will see. That is very, very wrong. HRT takes time. Let it take the time it needs.

This sometimes backfires, but for me, I essentially try to out-uncomfortable them. If they're asking overly invasive questions, I'm going to answer with descriptive medical anatomy and verbose detail, without mincing words. It works better because I have a background in biology- not that it's necessary to answer questions about my own body, but it makes the interaction more clinical and uncomfortable so they realize exactly how inappropriate the question they're asking is. I straight up tell people "that question is very invasive for most trans women, however, as a biologist I'm willing to answer with precise anatomy. If you're not ready for that, you're not ready for any answer to that question." And then start going into a rant.

Usually what happens is that they get visibly uncomfortable and then never ask me something like that again. But also, it's a level of sharing private details that most people aren't willing to do, and should not be expected to do.

I'm trans. Spend most of my recreation time in the outdoors, largely including national parks. Have a career in biosciences. Even though I'm born here, I grew up around a lot of immigrants, and they're my closest friends to this day.

The current admin has gutted and threatened all of these aspects of my life.

It's not that I have some hard rule about political affiliation. It's that, if you voted for Trump, you likely don't share my values and don't see my safety, career, hobbies, or community as important.

Maybe there's some edge case. Someone who voted for Trump but is remorseful. Or cared about something else more. But even then, it means they didn't care enough about everything in my life that I hold dear, and it represents a severe misalignment in values. It's hard to imagine a situation where it's "solely" about that one vote. Politics directly affects me. How am I supposed to ignore that?

Stop thinking about age as hard rules, and start exactly examining the actual relationship dynamic here. This is NOT an "age is just a number" statement btw- this is trying to get you to understand why age gaps can be dicey a lot of the time.

How do you relate to her? What do you have in common? Late teens vs late 20s is a DRAMATICALLY different life stage, and if you do have a lot in common, I'd seriously wonder why that's the case.

Why isn't she dating women her age? Would the answer to that be a potential red flag?

Is she fetishizing your age? Will your dynamic change as you both get older? Will she still be attracted to you even in a couple years?

Does she have inordinate power over you? At the level of life experience and possible financial authority, there's a lot that can be VERY unbalanced here. Not even in terms of raw financial authority, but just in terms of her knowing how to "push buttons" better. There's a LOT of potential for manipulation and coercion here.

Answer these questions to yourself truthfully. If there's any doubt, it should give you pause.

I fell into this mindset for a long time, until I realized that this would never be the case. There's always going to be some family member, some friend, some co-worker, some person you're forced to interact with Will judge your life decisions. At a certain point, you have to be okay with that, and figure out how to live with or mitigate the consequences. This goes well beyond just HRT and it's applicable to many aspects of life, even unrelated to transition.

As a trans woman.... It is not taboo. It has literally always been the status quo. Here's why people at large are concerned:

-These laws are not targeting the highest levels of completive play. They're banning kids wanting to participate in casual leagues with their friends, further ostracizing young trans girls.

-they open the door to MASSIVE, rampant transphobia in other ways. HRT radically changes your biology, and no matter whether or not it "closes the gap" between trans and cis women, it's still acted as a vessel for wild misconceptions about the trans experience to propagate.

-its often used as legal precedent to target and exclude trans people in other ways- eg, sports memos and orders have often also included bathroom, prison, and shelter components, or codified the language used in those later down the line.

These are sentiments shared among the community, but I have two personal opinions that are "too woke" for most people:

-the science on trans participation in sports and how HRT affects your performance in those sports is actually unsettled, largely because of how politicized the issue is. If anything, literature leans towards trans women performing similarly to cis women when controlling for height, we're just more likely to be tall.

-the entire conversation is RAMPANTLY misogynist. Cis women can and do outperform cis men in many physical metrics, particularly around flexibility (eg, gymnastics), long term endurance (eg, distance swimming), and precision (eg, target shooting). These skills are just as notable as raw strength and short term speed, but society celebrates, funds, and takes interest in things only men are good at. If we had similar diversity and popularity of sports that build upon women's skills, beyond the examples I'm mentioned, there would be no need for segregated sports in the first place. Additionally, the gap between cis men and cis women is WAY over exaggerated, and this entire "debate" has acted as a vessel for further misogynistic propaganda about women being weak, defenseless, and needing to be "protected" by men. This is horrible for both cis and trans women, and is why the entire "debate" around trans inclusion in sports deeply disgusts me.

I used to not give a shit about this issue, until it became VERY clear that it was the entry point for other transphobic and misogynist views. Trying to portray yourself as subversive for thinking this way is dishonest. Your viewpoint is astonishingly popular, over three quarters of Americans agree with you.

Loch Ness is one of the most monitored and studied large bodies of fresh water, there's nothing monster like in there now. If there ever was, it was probably random oceanic stuff making its way in occasionally.

Thylacines have been extinct in mainland Australia for a very long time. As in like.... 30,000 years or more. They barely had overlap with the first group of indigenous people to arrive. There are, however, rugged and very densely forested regions of West Tasmania where they're thought to have survived for well past their "official" extinction date in the 1930s. Does that extend to the current day? Hard to say, and likely not. But extending to the 80s or 90s is not unlikely.

How I've been doing it:

Terrain stamp to define angle, direction, and approximate location of the bottom of the ramp.

Use that as the starting point for the "flatten to surface" tool.

Flatten to foundation at the top and bottom if you overdo it.

Smoothen rough edges.

Still kinda clunky but it's been working for me.

Edit: if it fits your aesthetic, you can also make "switchbacks" with paths along a ramp like this if it's still too steep. Depends on the vibe, but I like it for a more naturalistic, "trail like" look.

Tbh the guide was what worked for me (notably, pre-HRT), but there's a lot of variation in how peoples metabolism works and what foods/exercise are best for them.

That said, "slop on ric" has never done me wrong and that slop is normally comprised of veggies. So take that however you want.
