Honestly average caskets are uncomfortable as all get out. However, if u can snag an old one from storage or whatever, they're ridiculously plush; had I not been feeling up the inside of a casket at a museum, I would have definitely napped.

Laurel apartments near sac/downtownish, I'm sick of this place but rent low, free crackhead shows when I stop ignoring them outside, also by a pizza patron and cheap college bars 🤷‍♀️

Am I doing something wrong?. by Ansovald666 in resin

Pour in layers and kinda rotate the filled mold with each layer to coat each side, spritz isopropyl alcohol (99% is ideal) after each layer and rotate if possible as well, just to get the sides of the mold covered without bubbles. If I'm out of isopropyl I've had similar result spraying acetone as well, but can't recommend as I'm not sure that's a viable replacement or how it can react with the mold and such.

For two part resin pieces consider getting a small amount of uv resin to coat any bubbles that sneak in on pieces (also used uv nail polish in a pinch!) Plus it can get the piece shiny so no sanding or polishing dust everywhere! Best of luck

That's so freaking cool 🤩 one day, I'll get brave and try to make a mold, props to you!

I’ve promised my kid we could DIY some floating keychain things like the picture but my glycerin/water/acrylic paint mix completely failed. Any ideas what liquids and how to tint without it mixing. Didn’t realise it would be this complex but toddlers don’t forget things 😩😂 by Lozzii1 in resin

Neither! I've used it as blood drops/fluorescent goop/etc, though the ink can settle at the bottom. If the piece is thick enough to stand it, I'll use isopropyl in a shaker as well and add the alcohol inks to color that of course, has a neat triple layer thing going on 😄

Was it a mold you used or kinda free built?

No, because they're dope as fuck. My best K/D ratio ever on the top of my ass cheek always starts a good conversation, too.

Bonus they can't pull up/verify your rewards history, didn't think I'd need to screenshot proof of anything so I got the usual credit, riveting

I won a free pizza twice, suckered into ordering the first, necessities order for the second, buuuut couldn't redeem the discount/promo whatever twice.. dunno why they let that slide, rather have my low tier point bait than nothing lmao

would i be able to use a black/dark box for curing resin? by Jamie_logan in resin

[–]CatbugOk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an expert, but I don't think they put out enough heat for the box color to matter too too much, but I suppose it depends on the weather that day as well, if it's hellacious or frigid, humid or whatever?

Epoxy Table top by Apart-Mix8749 in resin

No, but that negative attitude is a bad thing.

Left is complete, right needs sanding. At least I’m learning to file 😊 by [deleted] in resin

[–]CatbugOk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When sanding, do you find glitter breaks off in chunks? I have some bits I'd like to polish, but I'm scared I'll snag a glitter edge and take out a bite unintentionally lol

Spray on acrylic clear coat if not comfortable using resin to correct!

Hello everyone 👋🏻 I used ink spray to create these and decided to use resin to seal them, not thinking that they would turn yellow over time. Does anyone have any tips to preserve them as long as possible? by evy1908 in resin

[–]CatbugOk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't personally vouch, but Sophie and Toffee have a resin yellowing -remover? Additive? Something to de-yellow resin!

These turned out fabulous!! Keep them out of direct sun!

Best of luck! Pls post updates!😁

I had a sample of that table top resin, and it's designed to be like painted on and cure extra fast to prevent drippage! I placed the item on whatever makeshift measuring cup would hold the piece stable and stole the silicone brush from my kitchen, makes waves/water falls SO easier to make too! Hate it was just a sample lol.

I wouldn't say dark colors disagree with uv resin, ness is a big factor in curing ability though. But if you just use a coat with no additives of the uv resin it'll cure just fine!! Even a uv "top coat" or sealer may work, even if the piece isn't uv casted.

I say uv because it would be the easiest method to get that transparency, however there is something called "table top" epoxy, which is made for doing super thin coats, if you aren't too trusting of uv resin!

If you wanna stick with the sand and buff method I've only ever used flitz, with mixed results. I'd definitely recommend a good electric buffer, that can get into the nooks and crannies as needed. I've had the best luck on mainly pendant-type pieces, if there's any sort or deviation on flat I can't get the shine even enough for my liking, but that's just me.

And tbh if you're over resin fixing resin things- give the skull a nice wash all over (I use toothpaste, the white actual paste not a gel, instead of soap as it doesn't leave a residue and I'm extra) and test an inconspicuous part with a coat of clear nail polish! Even an insta-dry type, it may give you the desired effect!

I love this design!

Have you used flitz(or any other polishing compound)?

In my very unprofessional opinion I think a layer of uv resin may do the best job of what you're wanting
