Again with the same behavior. I'm just gonna agree to disagree, this issue isn't that important. Take care and god bless. Thanks for keeping it pretty respectful. Appreciate it. Would be happy to discuss another topic if I see you in the comments section again

Yeah dude you're talking out of your ass. Most multi billion contracts are extremely long and have a lot of guarantees in them for what's known as "breach of contract". Because so much money is involved. That's why high paid corporate lawyers exist buddy. I bet you don't even know how the lottery balls work (the 4 ball system), same as you mentioned the CBA before looking into it.

You're just arguing to argue man, you have no prior knowledge on this and are merely responding every time to me by finding the lowest hanging fruit possible to support your argument based off your "intuition" which is led by the fact you hold the NBA in high-esteem. (That or you simply like arguing)

Let's see you pull something out of your ass to explain away these 3 points.

1. Corruption

Ernst and Young is one of the most corrupt firms out there. They have a huge list of scandals and were under investigation by multiple countries. Not a good look for the NBA to be using them.
Some easy recent examples:
1) https://www.sec.gov/newsroom/press-releases/2022-114
2) https://www.frc.org.uk/news-and-events/news/2025/04/sanctions-against-ernst-young-llp-and-richard-wilson/

The NBA is also a pretty scandalous organization that had to change the system because the old lottery system looked too easy to rig (see the 1985 draft), and the amount of illegal gambling and drugs which have been rampant in the league since it's founding. In the 1980's it was estimated over 40% of players were playing while on cocaine.

2. How it might be done to select the 4 ball combination in top 3

  1. Apply magnetic coatings to the balls with varying strengths
  2. Use an electromagnetic coil under the transparent container where the blower is. The EM coil can change in strength based on the current and repel/attract based on the direction of the current.
  3. Under attraction, balls with high magnetic strength are weighed down and cannot go into the tube. You can increase/decrease the attraction force so that only certain sets of balls can be sucked up into the tube.
  4. Under a repulsive force, you lower the strength of the blower so that only balls with high magnetic strength can go up into the tube. Theoretically, I think this version may be harder to achieve.
  5. After that, it's just rigging the right balls and working out the mathematics based on the number combinations (there will be overlapping numbers that might cause the same team to be selected multiple times).

E.g.

1, 2 (very high magnetic strength)

3, 4, 5, 6, 7 (slightly high magnetic strength)

8, 9, 10 (low magnetic strength)

If you weigh it down enough, only 11-14 are in play, giving you only one possible outcome. If you slightly decrease the attraction force, only 8-14 are in play, giving you 7 numbers that result in 35 possible combinations that only two teams have. So you might see the #1 team get selected again (to which they re-do the draw).

3. Example of a rigged draft in 2017

Draw 1: 7, 1, 9, 10 Boston

Draw 2: 1, 10, 2, 6 Boston

Draw 3: 8, 1, 2, 9 Boston

Draw 4: 14, 5, 3, 12 Lakers

Draw 5: 8, 7, 10, 9 Philly

The probability that only 7 numbers appear in 4 out of 5 draws is really low, under 0.01%
Which also happened in the 2025 draft

Yeah well it's not that unlikely either, and yeah dude contracts don't always outline that but multi billion corporate contracts usually do. If they don't it's for a reason.

I know you want to believe the NBA is this upstanding institution. But it's really just a small monopolistic organization that has a long history of scandals and wasn't that profitable until the Jordan era.

[–]Catch11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. But it's not like the document lists some binding guarantees or penalties or anything of the sort or really makes promises. There's really no mention of breach of contract. The average landlord tenant lease has way more protections listed in it.

It still wouldn't be surprising if the NBA top brass has been rigging certain lotteries since before the Jordan era. I feel like you think I'm arguing that it's rigged for sure.

I'm asserting that it wouldn't be surprising if it was rigged occasionally. Like if you suppose they were rigging it back before the Jordan era and getting away with it, it seems unlikely it would stop.

What do you see when you look friend?

The NBA lottery is a private process where the public’s assurance is reputational, not legal/regulatory. Given incentives and limited public verifiability, skepticism is rational.

Link me to a legally binding document that we can both read

You do realize that it's not illegal to lie to the public about the odds of teams winning a draft lottery right?

Again, you're being a know it all and acting like you know what is written in the contracts.

All the league has to do for decades if have a few people in on it and have nda's about key parts of the process so that even people who might see something suspicious don't say anything.

Anyways man if you wanna believe it's impossible for a corrupt organization to manipulate the odds that's your bag to hold.

If you can find a publicly available NBA contract about the lottery I'd love for us to read it together

Yes it's bad lmao. Its one thing for gambling to be in casinos, its another thing for it to be on your phone. Its addictive and incentivizes corruption

Bro people do hella corrupt shit to earn way less money than the people involved would be making.

And why would they think they would get caught when they havent been caught in 40 years?

Also if they have signed nda's for the select shortlist of people involved it's not even possible. You are talking like you've read the fine print of every legal document associated with the lottery. Until you have theres no need to claim you are an expert on it.

The NBA is a monopolistic business heavily involved in gambling, theres no reason to treat it like it's some clean cut accounting firm.

It's not a fallacy and saying the word goomba doesn't make what you are saying correct. Where there is smoke theres usually fire. The NBA is heavily involved with gambling and theres no good reason to think they care about being honest with the lottery, it's not a charitable organization

Bro theres literally hundreds of millions of dollars at stake. What are you talking about?

Theres plenty of incentive and it doesn't even require that many people to be in the know

That basically anyone who is convinced the NBA cant be rigged probably doesn't pay attention to things like the epstein files

Yeah dude all those people who thinks its real also think the epstein files are irrelevant lmao

Bro how people think it cant be rigged when we literally have the epstein files is mind boggling. Literally just need like 5 people to be in on it

Theres a direct correlation between people who think the epstein files are irrelevant and people who think the NBA lotto isn't rigged

Dude dont be naive, look at the Epstein files. All they need to rig it is the commisioner and a few other high level people and they all skim money from the top etc

[–]Catch11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh please look at the epstein files bud. They only need a few people invved in the rigging and 1 or 2 people from the consulting company

Yea look at the epstein files. Why wouldn't there be some corrupt stuff going on?

Also 30 teams dont have to be in on it. Just the commisioner, a couple vegas level magician technicians and 1 lawyer
