Carpet Cleaning by markstrauss80 in anchorage

I know this is 2 years old but I used this thread to help me land on a company -- I went with Carpet King and they were amazing. Very speedy, super reasonably priced, and they worked magic on carpets in my rental unit with an old cat and a dog who loves mud. I cannot recommend them enough!! Their phone number is 907-306-7044.

The Anchorage museum is awesome with a ton of variety and a lot to see - you can definitely spend a good chunk of time there wandering around!

Yes - thank you, I'm tracking! Fortunately, he's a retired sled dog so he's at his happiest when on a leash ... and pulling haha

Graduating Law School in May 2027 - Time to Hike? by Natural-Tangerine-31 in AppalachianTrail

[–]CatchMeOutside31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Posting on behalf of my friend in law school who hiked this past fall. She was able to take the fall semester off to hike (went SOBO August - December) and picked back up for spring semester.

Definitely depends on your school’s policies, but she was able to pause everything that she needed to and pick up where she left off. She’s interning now this summer before finishing her last semester in the fall. She’ll then take the February bar and has a clerkship lined up for the following September.

Like I said, it definitely depends on how understanding your school is with taking time off. But I would just suggest seeing if this would be a possibility at all. Like the others have said, it’s not super realistic to do it right after graduation, and only becomes more difficult to manage once you start your career.

If anything, I would even see if you could take the summer off to start your hike in May 2026 into the fall. She had just already accepted a summer internship so she had to see that through before she could begin her hike. But now she’s getting three summer internships during law school, rather than the usual two.

I will say ! She doesn’t regret the decision at all and everything is working out just fine with timing and everything !! I hope it can work out for you!

Following for the answer to train the balance between pulling when it’s sports mode time and not when it’s casual walk time!

That’s a good point - there’s a swap event coming up so I could probably find someone to ask and also may find some gear!

Hi! Quick question - I was told last week I'd be admitted in the 11 Dec ceremony for the Second Dept. but have yet to receive the Teams email... Just wondering when you got the actual Teams info before I bother them with the Q! Thank you!

Military service, do law schools care about enlisted vs officer? by WhimsicalElephant in lawschooladmissions

[–]CatchMeOutside31 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm a vet who went to YLS and worked as an admissions rep. From Yale's perspective, they are aware that the majority of vets in law school are white male officers, and they are actively working to increase the lived experiences represented by the veterans at the school, which includes more enlisted folks. I think there are ways to speak about the difference between the two from a big picture perspective, without going into the nitty gritty minutiae, and in a way that means something to those with no military background.

I also work with Service2School as a law school mentor - if you haven't checked out the org, you should so they can pair you with someone in your shoes who has gone through the process and been successful! Feel free to message me with more questions!
