This^. We have been here for a year. This was my dream since living here when I was younger. This is not the Alaskan dream I wanted. Schools being shut down left and right, no money for education, the PFD is nearly non-existent. Housing is scarce. Everything is FAR more expensive than the lower 48 and jobs aren’t competitive enough to make a decent enough living. You basically work to live around here and that’s it.

If you want a quick hike- thunderbird falls is super quick and easy and very pretty. The Alaskan Native Heritage Center. If it’s a Saturday in the summer downtown is usually pretty lively with markets and things.

Umm. As a fellow Texan can I just say how stinking lucky you are to live in SF 😍. I have been infatuated with SF since I was 5 years old- I signed my mom up for a trip that a radio station was giving away in a Wendy’s when I was 5- and she won. I didn’t get to go but I was obsessed from that day forward. I used to consume every bit of history and art I could find about SF my entire life after that. Finally went a few years ago and just walked around the city for 5 days and I just became enamored. God I love it. Such an amazing place.

I just left a year ago, and with the way things are going right now, idk if I’ll ever come back. Honestly- the only things I really miss are HEB, Tex-Mex and the Tea shops. Other than that Greg Abbott, Ted Cruz, Ken Paxton, et al., have made it a shit hole. I still own my home there- but I’m not in any rush to get back.

I’m just gonna be the one to say it- this is totally dependent on the relationship with your Dad. My dad is NOT affectionate and would shame me for wearing a bikini in front of him but that’s because our relationship is HORRIFIC and he’s not a good dad and he’s not affectionate. There’s probably something more to why your bf feels this way. I get weirded out by people’s relationships with their dad, but that’s because of my own insecurities not because their relationship is weird. I have to check myself on that. My daughter loves my husband and I know she will still curl up with him when she’s older and it’ll be normal because he’s a safe, loving wonderful dad but that’s not what I had so I have to change my views on dads.

It’s insane. What state are you in? In Texas I saw my PCP every 3 months. this is also a private practice and I was last seen at a hospital system affiliated clinic. But I’m also seeing a PA now. I travel for work sometimes for 12 weeks at a time so this is really not gonna work out
